We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Peters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Back in 2014, I wanted to be a travel blogger. I had seen social media stars flaunting their exciting travels abroad and I wanted nothing more than to do what they were doing.

What held me back? Social media wasn’t my cup of tea. I didn’t want to be on camera. As a creative writer, I wanted to share my travel experiences through a blog and tell others how they could have a similar experience.

I had stumbled upon a travel website and at the top of the page, she had a link to a post about “making money as a travel blogger”. From that moment on, I was hooked. I had to make travel blogging work for me.

Although I worked hard for years trying to get my blog to make money, it never paid any bills. It wasn’t until 2019 when everything changed. I had learned and honed the skills that helped me grow my website quickly. Previously, I was receiving 100 readers to my site each month. After learning how to harness SEO and affiliate marketing strategies, I grew my monthly readers to well over 50,000. This turnaround took me 6 months, and from that point on, I knew I had to tell everyone about what I had learned and implemented to make my business work for me.

After spending a year and a half growing my website and turning it into a $10,000 per month success story, I started receiving endless questions about how I was able to see success so quickly.

That’s when I decided to create a course and coaching program that would teach other struggling travel bloggers how to grow their websites so they could turn their businesses into a full-time income, too (without social media).

Since launching my program in 2021, we’ve helped thousands of bloggers start, grow, and monetize their travel blogs. Although my personal success story was everything I could’ve hoped for, being able to teach others how to create financial freedom is even sweeter.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business journey began with a passion for travel and a desire to share that passion with others. What sets my brand, ‘Scale Your Travel Blog,’ apart is not just the comprehensive resources we provide but the community we’ve built. It’s a place where aspiring and seasoned travel bloggers alike can find support, inspiration, and practical strategies to turn their blogging dreams into realities. What excites me most is seeing our members achieve their goals, whether that’s hitting their first 100,000 page views or earning their first income from their blog.

Reaching this point wasn’t easy. The road was lined with challenges, from navigating the complexities of SEO, affiliate marketing, and email marketing to overcoming personal hurdles like imposter syndrome and fears surrounding financial success.

The lessons I’ve learned are numerous, but one of the most important is that success is not just about hard work and strategy; it’s also about having the right mindset and surrounding yourself with a supportive community. Another key lesson is the importance of continuously investing in oneself, whether through education, mentorship, or personal development.

For those who are just starting out or are currently struggling with their businesses, remember that “pushing through” tough times isn’t just about finding more clients. It’s about uncovering the blocks that are keeping you where you and working through them step-by-step.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Starting my own business has been a journey of personal and professional growth, but it wasn’t a solo adventure. Along the way, I’ve been lucky enough to learn from mentors, coaches, and various courses that have each contributed to my success. One pivotal moment was in 2020 when I decided to dive into Amy Porterfield’s Digital Course Academy. The insights I gained there weren’t just about creating content; they were about building something meaningful and impactful for my audience. This was the foundation that allowed me to launch ‘Scale Your Travel Blog,’ a platform dedicated to helping others grow their travel blogs beyond just a hobby into sustainable businesses.

After establishing a thriving community through ‘Scale Your Travel Blog,’ I found myself navigating through unexpected challenges. Despite the success, I struggled with mindset issues that many entrepreneurs face: doubts about making money, imposter syndrome, and the question of whether I truly deserved the success I had worked so hard for. It was during this time of self-reflection and seeking solutions that I stumbled upon ‘You Are A Badass At Making Money’ by Jen Sincero. This book wasn’t just a read; it was a revelation. Sincero’s candid advice and actionable steps were a wake-up call, inspiring me to confront my financial fears head-on.

After discovering this confidence and with a determination to overcome more mental blocks, I took the next significant step by enrolling in Denise Duffield-Thomas’ Money Bootcamp. This investment wasn’t just financial; it was an investment in my mindset, my business, and ultimately, in my future. The course provided me with the tools to change my limiting beliefs around wealth and success, replacing them with empowering affirmations and strategies designed for long-term growth.
