We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Sylvia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, how do you think about risk?
I believe if you want to be rewarded, you need to take a risk. In order to receive opportunity, you must seek it.

When you’re young, you’re pressured to figure out who you are and what you will become; although each of us grows up in a vast environment we all have the same pressure as we live out our lives. If we all were to choose similar paths of staying in a life where we don’t truly live because we are comfortable with not taking any true risks, we wouldn’t get anywhere as a society, we wouldn’t accomplish, cure, overcome, build, and more if we didn’t take risks. We would never find out how much we are capable of and who we could ultimate become as our best selves because we were okay with not taking risks. However, sometimes it’s hard to live out what you truly want and take the risk. This may be due to circumstances, excuse making, or outside judgement from those you trust.

In 2019, right before I graduated college, I was able to visit paradise, or as most call it, Miami. Originally being from Mississippi, my eyes were opened to a whole new world of opportunity. I came back from Miami and told my family I wanted to take the risk of moving there, a land filled with many of my favorite interests and inspiration to get paid for what I love to do. This was my chance to take the risk on becoming a better person, even if it meant leaving everyone and everything I knew and loved. Even when everyone was advising me to not leave.

With it being 2022, I have successfully made it 3 fantastic years in Miami; growing more and more everyday as a person doing what I love for not just myself ,but those around me. I now have the knowledge of risk taking and what giving yourself a chance looks like in the end, especially when you put your faith and passion to it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Lavish by LauLau, has just started to take off here in Miami. After connecting and building relationships with those around me, I have been able to put together an amazing group of people that love to give opportunities just as much as I do. Because with the risk we take on each other, comes a beautiful reward most of the time. Seeing these rewards and how much others like to connect and build with one another in order to make these rewards come to life, has been inspiring in itself. Through the desire of wanting everyone to strive to be their best selves, wanting the most not only for themselves but for others, I crave the chances I get to put together these events in order to see and have this type of connection happen.

Recently, my company and others have been holding happy hours around Miami to get people in the know about everything we can offer them. This includes and is not limited to crypto panels, clothing shops, artists, luxury rentals such as jet skis, yachts, production crew, event venues, planes, cars, entertainment, massages, catering, VIP Suites, dinner parties, and more as our great network grows. With this network building, the goal is to be able to provide the assets with the clients and the clients with the assets in a hospitable, professional, luxury manner.

What I have loved most about starting this business is being able to connect with others in a way that isn’t just a friend to be there but a partner to do great business with. Seeing the joy that comes from clients having a beautiful experience or a seamless transaction. Additionally, knowing at the end of the day, I walk away happy and satisfied that what I do is what I love and what I do inspires others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When they arrived I would take the to a restaurant on key biscayne to soak in the miami skyline, then I would have a yacht pick them up outside at the harbor take them around for a sunset cruise and drop them off at a restaurant on the river to enjoy a fun dinner party. The next day i would take them to Miami Beach for a beautiful brunch over looking the ocean and a beach day or pool party. After, would be experience one or two of Miami’s hottest clubs. I would then set up a photoshoot to capture all the best miami looks around the city’s best photographed places finishing with an amazing Cuban sandwich.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
