Hi Lauren, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success has been leading with warmth and honesty. When founders are starting their businesses, talking to a lawyer is usually the last thing they want to do. They’re nervous — they’ve heard horror stories about costs, complexity, or making a mistake that could derail everything. Trademarks in particular can feel daunting, and many founders put off protecting their brand because the legal world seems cold and intimidating. I built Storylock Legal to be the opposite experience. I approach every conversation with empathy and transparency, breaking down the process so clients feel empowered instead of overwhelmed. My clients know I genuinely care about their vision and want to protect the story they’ve worked so hard to create. That trust and authenticity are at the heart of both my relationships and my brand’s growth.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a trademark and intellectual property attorney, and I help founders safeguard their brands so they can build with confidence. That means I run comprehensive trademark searches to determine whether particular marks are clear for my clients to use, file applications with the USPTO, and guide entrepreneurs through the process of protecting their names, logos, and creative assets so they can grow without fear of losing what they’ve built.

What sets me apart is the way I approach this work — with warmth, authenticity, and transparency. So many people are intimidated by attorneys, but I want every client to feel cared for, respected, and understood.

Building Storylock Legal as a divorced mom of two active boys hasn’t been easy. There were moments of doubt, long nights, and the juggle of parenting alongside entrepreneurship. But I’ve learned that if you don’t go for it, you’ll always be left wondering ‘what if?’ Taking that leap has been the best decision I ever made, and it’s shown me that resilience and passion can carry you through the hardest seasons.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is simple: I will treat your business and your story with the same care and respect I give my own. My role isn’t just to protect trademarks — it’s to be a trusted partner in helping founders lock in their legacy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, we’d start where I always start with friends — Books & Books in Coral Gables. Most of my friends are readers like me, and it’s such a magical place for book lovers. I’d also want to give them a taste of Miami’s food scene: classic Cuban food at Versailles, stone crabs and key lime pie at Joe’s Stone Crab, and coffee at Panther Coffee to keep us going.

We’d definitely spend an afternoon at the Wynwood Walls, then wander into the surrounding shops and galleries to soak in the art and energy. Between trying new restaurants and exploring the city’s creative neighborhoods, I think they’d get a true sense of what makes Miami special. For me, the best time isn’t about big nightclubs or nonstop action — it’s about books, art, great meals, and little adventures shared with people you love.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest shoutout goes to my two boys! They’ve been patient and supportive as I’ve grown my business, and I love knowing they’re watching me model resilience and the entrepreneurial spirit. Their encouragement reminds me that I’m not just protecting other founders’ legacies — I’m also building one for them.
