We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Malta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, what do you attribute your success to?
From the beginning, TanLines Optional has been about relationships. Yes, we offer the best custom spraytans, but the spraytan is just a vessel for a relationship with that client. I call it the bonus glow. You can go most anywhere for a decent spraytan, but I more so care about how we made you feel during your 20 minutes with us. So I have focused more on the relationship with my client, giving them a 20 minute break from the craziness of life, to come in, be listened to, be cared about, and most importantly, feeling when you walk out our doors, not only do you have the perfect faux glow, but you have the biggest confidence boost to go back out tackle the world! Perfect spraytans are what they schedule and receive, but we also add making sure that they feel absolutely loved on and cared about in the best way possible! People may or may not remember the spraytan, but they will ALWAYS remember how you made them feel. So we want them to feel like our best and only customer every single time! Without them, there is no us, so our entire success is centered on how we make them feel when they are with us!

What should our readers know about your business?
TanLines Optional is known for our custom, vegan spraytans in Palm Beach County and surrounding areas – we have been in business almost 7 years and aim for perfection with every tan. We are experts in Colorology (skin tone matching for zero orange) and are certified in every tan, from Lifestyle, Photoshoot, Bridal, Competition and even the latest craze of Contouring! We just got moved into our own stand-alone boutique studio in September of 2020 and are so excited to have our own space and the upcoming move into franchising to give women all over the country an opportunity to be their own Bossbabe and light up the lives and glow of even more people! Business ownership is the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done. Huge highs and huge lows, but I always love it. I am so blessed to LOVE what I do. They say find something you love, and you’ll never work a day in life. Doesn’t mean you won’t work, it just means that on your worst day, you will still be absolutely enamored with what you’re doing. The most important thing I have learned is to always push forward. Every day. There is a difference between failing and quitting. If you believe in what you’re doing, you will be successful, doesn’t mean you won’t mess up and learn better, more efficient ways to do things, you just won’t ever quit. So welcome the “no’s” because every “no” brings you one step closer to the “yes”! And that “yes” will be the best thing you have ever heard when it happens!!! Absolutely nothing is owed to you, but if you put the relentless work in, what you want will be yours! My ultimate goal for TanLines Optional is that we are instantly associated with the most perfect spraytan, but more importantly with the nicest, most caring, loving workers and environment in whatever town we are in. I want every client to feel like they are our very favorite client and whenever they come to us, they leave with warmed hearts and perfect spraytans!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would absolutely stay a night or two at the iconic Breakers resort – the atmosphere, the food and drinks, the service, the people watching – it is a Palm Beach must! While there, explore the island, with it’s shopping, restaurants and some of the mansion tours. The Palm Beach Par 3 is fun little golf course for golfers of any ability to enjoy, with ocean front 19th hole drinks and food afterwards! A drive down to the Keys, in a convertible, over 7 Mile Bridge and being able to see both the sunrise and sunset on the water, in the same place is an absolute must do! There are too many to list, but all of the gems of small business restaurants and boutique shopping are always on the list. Paddle boarding the intracoastal and through John D. MacArthur State Park is such a fun way to experience fabulous water views, workout and see some wildlife.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely would not be where I am without God’s forgiveness, grace and love in my life. My husband and family are the cornerstone of my values and the ever present push to keep me going. I have to give the biggest shoutout to Brittany Otto, owner of Brittany Christine Salon, who believed in me and this dream long before I did, and was constantly present with all of the experience and bossbabe advice through the growing pains. And to every single client that has ever come into my little glow studio, I owe them the biggest, most heartfelt THANK YOU. They are the lifeline of not only mine, but every single small business. Their support, their love, their social media shoutouts, their referrals, I could go on. They have built my business and continue to do so with every spraytan that they book. They need their glowing skin, and I need them and our little 20 minute therapy sessions together. I have been blessed and encouraged by their stories and their resiliency in whatever has come their way. They are all apart of my ever expanding Glow Gang and I am humbled by each one them and their support.
