We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had worked in the salon industry for years and never truly felt home. I decided that opening up my own place was the only way I can make it exactly how I want!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I wanted to open a salon that was all about inclusivity and offering a safe space for whomever walks through the doors! I had worked in salons for years that never truly felt like home; so I wanted to open my own space for myself and others! It was not easy whatsoever, myself and my support group worked endlessly for months to get my business to the place it is now. I’ve learned to always keep going and stay motivated; but also to take mental health seriously and take a break when needed!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably take them to some local towns that I love- Like New Paltz, NY! It is my favorite place to just walk around after a long hike and grab some food.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My incredible parents, who helped me through everything! They even helped me renovate my entire salon space.
