We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Romeo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leah, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is being of service to others. I strongly believe I was born to help others in their journey, it helps me as well. Nothing is more satisfying for me than being that bright, warm-hearted, altruistic presence in someone’s life. I am motivated by reminding people there are genuine souls here that truly want you to attain peace, love, and happiness in this lifetime. I am always ready to add unconditional love into the world…it is so desperately needed. I know how it is to feel lonely, unsupported, and hopeless. There is grand fulfillment with bringing positivity and support into other’s lives. More importantly, empowering them along the way to be self-sufficient. I readily share any resources and information that may help someone. We are all experiencing life together. There is no logical reason as to why one cannot selflessly help another. Healthier people yield a healthier environment. This births sustainability, compassion, and equity. This is what my business is rooted in: helping people to heal utilizing God’s gift to us (crystal healing).
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is called Sandra’s Divine Gems LLC. It is a Black Owned Mother-Daughter Business specializing in handcrafted, uniquely designed crystal jewelry, that is spiritually charged. Our Motto is “Crystal Jewelry that is Stylish and Heals!”
We create our own pieces that are for sale, but we absolutely love and welcome custom orders (highly selected). We do it all: waist beads, bracelets/anklets, loc/hair jewelry, wrapped crystal necklaces, rings, earrings, and anything else you want us to bring to life! What makes us different is, each jewelry piece is handcrafted with unique designs, infused with love and positivity. We use only high quality crystals. We make sure to balance our energetic field so only high vibrational energy is placed in these creations. Nonetheless, after the jewelry is made, we cleanse with sage and rosemary. Afterwards, we charge the crystals in sunlight or under the moonlight (especially if there is a Full or New Moon). This is to ensure once you receive your jewelry, it is vibrating at its maximum ability, ready to amplify your intentions. Our mission is to promote spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical well-being, through crystal healing.
It is so rewarding to witness customer satisfaction and positive reviews on these pieces assisting one’s journey.
My interest in crystals started when I began my spiritual journey back in 2018. Learning about their healing/metaphysical properties was quite intriguing. My mother, Sandra, became fascinated as well. We both are naturally inclined to express ourselves artistically as a creative, therapeutic outlet. Once she learned about the benefits of crystals, she dived into handcrafting crystal jewelry. She mainly made jewelry for herself and I. After continuous compliments on her creations, I finally encouraged her to make this into a business. Thus on January 27, 2020 Sandra’s Divine Gems was born. On April 21, 2020 Sandra’s Divine Gems LLC was made official. Now we handcraft beautiful crystal jewelry with a divine touch.
A challenge that I faced was being victim to companies scamming newly founded businesses. They sent letters requesting us to pay a fee for documents “required” for LLC. I was caught up in the excitement of the business being official, I didn’t do my research prior to sending the money. Once I realized, I attempted to intercept the money order via USPS, but they were unable to execute. I was aware of my limited knowledge, so I accepted my fate, knowing I made a mistake. Lesson learned is to pay closer attention when companies reach out, and always do research before committing to any payment. Another challenge is solidifying pricing that matches the time/effort spent, and quality work with affordability to the customers. Ultimately, I’ve learned that you must know and own your worth. The clientele that’s meant for you will gravitate to you. The reality is people will always spend any amount of money for what they want. Therefore, you should always exude confidence in your products, standing firm in your self-worth. Just ensure you have prices that fit all budgets, without compromising on the quality.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to get West Indian Food (Doubles and Roti) from either Singh’s Roti Shop or Lallo’s, also patties from Hammonds, and to the Iconic Jaxson’s Ice cream parlor. Then we would go to Dave n Busters and cater to our inner child, having carefree fun. For some adult fun, we’d go to Cooper Hawk’s Winery for wine tasting. As art lovers, I would take them to Wynwood to observe all the lovely paintings. On Wednesday, we would go to the Food Trucks at Volunteer Park. As the week winds down, I would take them to places to reconnect with Earth. Going to Everglades National Park and/or Biscayne National Park to immerse ourselves in Mother Nature, as well as the beach. I would try to even squeeze in a trip to the Butterfly Garden. Once we are at the beach, we would indulge in some more adult fun with drinks at places like Lulu Bait Shack. Additionally, grab a bite at the Aruba Beach Cafe. We would also go to The Berry Farms Sunflower Field to capture some amazing photos/memories. On the last day, we would go to the Tamarac’s Farmer’s Market, then Dania Pointe, for a picnic on the greenspace enjoying the stilt walker entertainment.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank Universe for divinely guiding me, always reminding me to have faith and trust the process. Additionally, I would like to thank all my loved ones (Immediate Family Members, Life Partner, and Best Friends). Thank you to my ancestors that came before me. Thank you to my High School mentor Mama T, FAMU School of Public Health, and all of my previous/current supervisors. You each had a role in my development. Special shoutout to my Aquarian Sister, Isis Pierre, for recommending me to Voyage Miami. Lastly, a HUGE thank you to Voyage Miami for featuring me.
