We had the good fortune of connecting with LeAndre Barnett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LeAndre, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Its really been a 10 year process of understanding what I wanted to and how I wanted to do it. I made art and clothes for years since I was in school, I just always separated the two because the the industries they exist in.
I studied how artist like Basquiat and Picasso built a career off a visual perspective of their ideas,Combining that with how Virgil Abloh created a perspective on fashion through Graphic design and the heights it took him showed me that if you have a unique idea or perspective you can create your own platform or business to showcase all of those ideas.
Which led me to LeAndre Supply co. which is just a creative studio for me to showcase and sell all of my ideas on a platform to the highest level giving a luxury experience.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others? I feel what sets me apart is my confidence to show the process and the steps from bad to good and wear my influences my sleeve.
what you are most proud of or excited about?
Im most excited about the process leading up to the showcase in my latest collections which is my latest tour were im drawing live and selling my products providing an experience.
How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Long term consistency, Failing and not giving up and mostly understanding myself and how I work.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
you are who you need to be already to start your journey embrace that and allow yourself to grow
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I want to be example of embracing and understanding yourself and connecting with people who support you which is what my brand is, its a personal brand where you feel you know person and understand what your buying and who your supporting which has been lost through the hustle mentality in todays industry of people just wanting to make a few bucks. Im someone you can see and hear and understand why I do what I do.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Id take them to World famous to grab some Eggrolls and fries to eat and drive to Miami Lynwood area to explore some spots to drink and hang outset some art and meet friends out there I love the downtown scenes in Miami and Fort Lauderdale so either of those are fine.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Id say its too many to name lol, Id say Akira Toriyama His recent passing had me realize how much of his self and his love for the things that made him who he is and he always put that in his work no matter what medium he was working in.
His work is one of the reasons I started drawing as a child and effects me til this day.
I embrace myself and the weird things I love because of the example he set which always set him apart.
Rest in peace Toriyama Sensei
