We had the good fortune of connecting with Leanet and Nohra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leanet and, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After being Nurses for over 10 years and serving children with special needs, we felt there was a gap in the services families were receiving due to the lack of knowledge of resources. We decided to open our center with the goal to not only help our children but also to connect families to the community and create a support system for the families that are very often overlooked.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) which is a center for care during the day for medically complex and/or technologically dependent children. In our center we provide nursing care, for children from birth to 21 years old and they can also receive Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapy once admitted.
Rainbow Kids Pediatric is our dream of many years becoming a reality…
Why is this center our dream? We have been Nurses for over 10 years working with pediatric special needs population providing resources and support to these families. From our experience we perceived that there was a gap in the services these families were receiving as well as lack of knowledge about community resources not only for the children but for the entire family
Having a child with special needs affects the dynamic of the entire family who needs to adjust to his needs and limitations. Therefore, the family also needs a support system catered to them. It has been our dream and our goal to provide that kind of service, we want to build and connect with our community to be able to provide families with all needed resources and educate our community on the importance of inclusion.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
