We had the good fortune of connecting with Lee Evans Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lee, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Wow, I love this question. For me, the main questions are, “Is there a gap in the marketplace?” and “Does this product exist already?” I didn’t want to create just another shade of red lipstick, I wanted to disrupt the entire marketplace by bringing something to retail that actually did not exist. After dreaming of the idea, I spent about a month researching if a blend of luxury wear and athletic material had been done. Once I had confirmed that it hadn’t, the path was set.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The most important thing is that consumers know that I am behind every piece you see from Mrs Momma Bear; from the first sketches, to the placement of every seam and button, to the patterns, and the final fitting. Nothing from the Mrs Momma Bear collections have been handed off. To know that a woman led company is literally behind the entire fit and design of what you are putting on is the mission. Every outfit from the brand is in my daily rotation. This is where the “Wear With Love” comes from. Every decision is made from a place of love and I want to make your day more stylish and comfortable.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is easy, eat all your meals at Call Me Gabby! I am a huge cook and I am OBSESSED. Walk the boardwalk, the entire thing. Lastly, no matter the time of year, you have to swim in the ocean. Even if it’s one dip, dive in and swim!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
YES!!! Meg Winkler and Anastasia Sternard who are a part of my design team. They have been with me since the beginning and take all my crazy ideas and make them a reality with the CADS and CLO3d platforms. Lastly, my son, who just today brought home something he wrote in class “to the person who inspires him,” which is me, but I tell him everyday that he is my inspiration. Some evenings we end the day with a milk shake and freeze dried strawberries, visiting and looking at the moon. It’s truly what life is for me. If I can’t share it all with the people I love, which includes my team, then none of it is worth it.

Other: Yes, I love this question because when I launched, inflation was at its height. It still is, and I want my clothing to be for the many, not the few. My tops start at $175, pants start at $225, blazers around $300 and jumpsuits range from $525 to the most expensive being my hand cut fringed jumpsuits at $1,275.
