We had the good fortune of connecting with LEEBETSY CHARON and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LEEBETSY, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks are important when it comes to your life/career because it forces you to step out of your comfort zone. This was a huge role when it came to deciding to become a full on entrepreneur and open up my business. I always had the comfort of a steady paycheck being employed and the thought of not possessing that was risky, especially since I’m a mother of 6 children. Having mouths to feed and providing a roof over their heads is priority. I took that leap, took that risk and it was the best decision I ever made to date. Was it easy, no . . Did it happen overnight, no. I worked extremely hard, balanced a full-time job, my business and motherhood to get to where I had built my business to the point that I felt ready to move forward full on with it and quit my job. I’ve been able to grow it more and more ever since, 3 years so far. I couldn’t have done it without taking a risk.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Craft Accountant takes the worry behind your organization’s finances and frees you from wasting time on tasks that don’t add value to your customers or contribute to your bottom line. My firm specializes on running organizations’ finances including licensing, permitting, taxes, accounting, and payroll. Allowing craft breweries and small business owners to focus on their business. That’s why my motto is “stay true to craft, grow the numbers”. What sets me apart is that my firm specializes in craft brewery accounting. I am most proud that I built my business while working full-time and being a single mother. I worked extremely hard and overcame many obstacles along the way, I never quit on myself/business. I love craft beer and saw a need in the industry for proper accounting and organization. Combined my expertise, did my research and enjoyed several pints of beers to offer my services to local breweries and small businesses. Sleepless nights, planning, over-thinking, taking the leap . . . blood, sweat and beers!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely would take them on a local brewery tour including breweries: Unbranded Brewing Company, Tripping Animals, MIA Beer, Lincolns Beard Brewing, Strange Beast, Spanish Marie, The Tank and J. Wakefield. To eat, my tastebuds go from casual to boujee real quick: colada and croquetas at Breadman Bakery . . . brunch at LIttle Hen, Honey Uninhibited, Seaspice . . . drinks/dinner at Lil Greenhouse Grill, Vista, Boia De, Doral Yard. I love hanging out in the Wynwood area, so many things to see, eateries and bars including my favorite beer spot there Boxelder. Definitely have to go by Downtown Doral, such a nice, family friendly vibe out there. Museums and city hidden gems are also my thing so I’d be taking my best friend to those spots as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely need to shoutout not one but two amazing women that positively impacted my life and success. First is Ro Ferrelli, who introduced me to manifestation, meditation, life coaching me through overcoming obstacles in my life, battling depression and growth. Second is Natalie Leon of Wine with Nat, an empowering organization she runs for female entrepreneurs. She helped me network, guided me and my business, and empowered me as a female entrepreneur to follow through with my goals.
