We had the good fortune of connecting with Leiden Gomis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leiden, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Before developing Jueves Music, our record label with a gender perspective, we wanted to propose new routes in the way of doing industry within music that were more oriented towards a sense of community and mutual support. On the other hand, we wanted to open more spaces to support women’s projects in the musical ecosystem.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a professional singer-songwriter for a decade, and something that has kept me at the forefront of this work has been being connected to my center, my emotions and my congruence. For me, music also has a social and political responsibility, as well as an artistic one.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s a lot of people. But in this paragraph I would like to mention my record label partner Adryana Marroquín for being the perfect balance for the realization of this undertaking.
