We had the good fortune of connecting with Leon Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leon, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Success has its complexity, it is a cocktail of effort, dedication, talent, skills, personality, motivation, faith, and the list goes on. To me, the success of “Chef Leon LLC” is that I understood that every client has its own needs, taste, personality and expectations. Some of them want to get to know you and interact with you, some have used this type of service before and some are first timers, and that makes a huge difference on how to approach the client, and the service overall. But the most important thing is to ALWAYS DELIVER A GREAT EXPERIENCE, being consistent has made me stand out among other colleagues, that is the key factor of my success. Independently of who the client is, how much money or power they have, my goal is to read them as individuals and deliver the best possible experience culinary wise and hospitality wise.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I literally started this business with a bag of knives, big dreams and lots of fears and doubts, but I strongly believe my desire to change my life situation and my dreams on owning a business pushed me through all the challenges and difficulties that life and the business itself has presented on my path.

It has been far from easy, there was a global pandemic that hit every business around the world, also I was very raw on the private chef industry, I knew how to cook great food but I didn’t know much about dealing with clients, pricing my services, making attractive proposals, etc… a lot of mistakes were done but the most important thing was to learn from them and turn those mistakes into innovative ideas, to make the ‘CHEF LEON EXPERIENCE” what it is today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots in this wonderful city where I would take my friends or family if they are visiting are the following:

For cultural Places I personally love the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Perez Art Museum, Wynwood, Design District, Superblue Miami.

For Outdoor activities I would highly recommend to go on a Fishing charter, visit the Florida keys, the Everglades National Park, Paddle Boarding in Virginia Key, watching the sunset at South Point Park.

My favorite restaurants are: Osaka Miami, Stubborn Seed, Doma, Uchi Miami, Itamae, Toscana Divino.

Depending the time of the year there are amazing events in the city such as the F1 Gran Prix, Miami Tennis Open, Art Basel, NBA, Ultra Music Festival and many more.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this feature to everyone that has contributed with my professional growth, to my parents for always supporting me and believing in me, to my girlfriend for her patience and her unconditional love, to my sister that is a key member of this brand, to Enrique my Sous Chef for his excellent attitude and loyalty, to Claudia that its been with me since day 1, I would like to thank also Jeff Maxfield for his mentorship throughout the years. And to everyone that has ever worked with me and made me the professional / business owner I am today, without all of you this would not be possible.
