We had the good fortune of connecting with Lerice Wee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lerice, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always wanted to start something on my own, something I have passion for. I’ve always loved creating and thinking of something I can do myself. I absolutely love accessories and jewelry. One day, I bought a bracelet set and realized I did not like how the bracelets looked in person or how they fit on me. I knew I was able to remake them and that’s how everything started.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of the fact that I can make beautiful pieces for women, pieces that may be small yet so meaningful! Every order I get has a story behind the names/words or the colors that they choose. I love empowering mothers and mothers-to-be. I started this while I was a stay-at-home Mom and it was not easy to stay consistent, but I stayed positive and worked hard day in and day out by researching great quality supplies and creating some gorgeous beaded jewelry that people love. There were definitely a lot of trial and error involved but here we are shipping these beautiful pieces all over the country and Canada to now showcasing them in South and Central Florida at some awesome events. I have learned to always stay consistent, stay positive, and to always trust your creativity. I come from a small town in the Philippines where there are very little opportunities for people, but seeing my parents work so hard to be able to provide a better life for us here in America is something I will always be grateful for. As a first generation immigrant, it feels great that there are so many opportunities out here for someone like me as long as you work hard and stay consistent. Of course, my business is still not where I would like for it to be, but the thought of knowing it can get there is what pushes me everyday.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are many places to visit in the Treasure Coast! My favorite spots to eat and hang out are the Twisted Tuna, Tidehouse, and Mulligans. We are also close to some amazing local beaches from Stuart up to Fort Pierce. I absolutely love spending a day at the Fort Pierce jetty as well where you can grab some drinks at local restaurants nearby or park and head over to south beach park. A lot of my friends and family that come to South Florida come for the beaches and to relax.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my entire family for always supporting me on the good days and the bad.
