We had the good fortune of connecting with Leyla Osorio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leyla, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
I think how much work goes into it all. Our guests and outsiders usually see the final product, enjoying the perfect vacation and the overall experience. Yet, there’s an entire team—an arsenal of people—working behind the scenes, and it all starts with one idea.

This initial spark sets in motion a chain reaction of creativity, planning, storytelling and hard work. After this first spark, our product team conducts an exhaustive investigation to develop a concept and find the perfect setting or settings. Then, it’s time to build a timetable, where we also consider the operational aspects—is the time viable, how far away is it from the port? We must keep everything in mind to build something seamless.

Once we have those two elements, the most exciting part begins: the storytelling and mise-en-scène. We carefully curate how we communicate with our passengers, aiming for an unforgettable and immersive experience. In this process, we select and train the perfect tour guides to enact and embody this narrative. Afterward, logistics come into play, considering aspects such as the number of passengers, buses, transfers and tickets. It’s a choreographed dance just to bring one experience to fruition.

The perfect shore excursion experience is the culmination of countless hours, expertise and passion invested by a diverse team. From the initial idea to the final execution, every individual involved contributes a unique skill set, turning a concept into a memorable reality.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Being an entrepreneur is never easy. You have to think up a business idea, sure, but you also need to be ready to work long hours, sacrifice sleep, take risks and face a lot of closed doors. At the start, many people doubt you because you lack experience, and some folks don’t like new things. So, being an entrepreneur is always a challenge. I can’t think of any entrepreneurs who didn’t have a hard time. But, it’s also super rewarding when you finally overcome those challenges. They don’t go away; they just change as you grow. The lessons learned include the importance of sticking with it, not giving up and understanding that with dedication and discipline, you can achieve your goals. Sometimes, the initial goals may not work out, but you realize you’ve achieved even bigger things along the way.

I’ve learned that when one door closes, it doesn’t mean you failed; it means you’re being pushed closer to your life’s project. Some doors close, but others open. Each rejection gets you closer to where you should be.

Our brand and story have something in common: conviction, passion and a strong commitment to what we do. We’re committed to doing innovative and different things. Our main driving force is the passion we all put into the company. Another part of our story is that we don’t believe in limits, even when we face obstacles. We started in three cities—Miami, Ft Lauderdale and Cartagena—and now we’re in over 100 ports. We believe everything can be done on a global scale, and we can grow and do everything with excellence. There are no limits to growth. If I have to share a lesson, I want to share the one I always tell my team: If they kick you out of the door, come back through the window, but never give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s so much to see and do in Miami! It’s such an interesting, multicultural and beautiful city. But If I had to pick a seven day itinerary I would space it out as follows: I’d kick off the week at Oleta River State Park, a serene oasis offering a much-needed escape from the urban hustle. Explore the tranquility through kayaking, biking or hiking the scenic trails. It’s the perfect place to visit with families and friends.
Next, I’d embark on a boating adventure along Miami’s shores, enjoying the picturesque landscapes, beautiful boats and winding rivers. With its bars and restaurants close to the coastline, Miami is the perfect city to experience from the water – a unique opportunity not offered by many cities. Taking in the city’s skyline from the water, surrounded by the vibrant energy of Miami adds an unforgettable dimension to it. Boating along the rivers provides a unique perspective of the city’s charm and architectural beauty. I would end the day in Sunny Isles Beach, for a full day of aquatic fun.
For the third day, I recommend exploring Wynwood by foot, immersing yourself in the unique vibrant street art scene it provides and indulging in delicious fusion cuisine. The neighborhood offers a range of culinary delights, blending international influences and presenting creative local dishes. Wrap up the day with a Miami Heat game or cheering for Inter Miami in soccer—a fun family tradition that adds to the overall Miami experience.
Of course, you absolutely can’t miss Brickell – a stunning area that seamlessly blends dining, shopping, and leisurely strolls along its captivating skyline. For me, the day starts with a delightful brunch, setting the tone for what lies ahead in this financial district. It’s a mix of sophistication and art that I find magical. While you’re there, make sure to step into one of the art galleries – a perfect way to add a touch of culture to your Miami experience.
There are so many spots to visit on this day. But I have to pick Ocean Drive where pastel-hued Art Deco buildings line the boulevard. In the afternoon, venture to Lincoln Road Mall for a blend of shopping, dining and people-watching. And, as the sun begins to set, head to the rooftop of a beachfront bar for panoramic views of the twilight skyline. It’s truly magical.
Dive into the heart of this financial district experiencing the energy and sophistication it exudes. Take in the architectural wonders and picturesque views, creating memories beyond the plate. As the day unfolds, embrace the unique facets of Brickell that make it a hub of luxury, culture and urban vitality.
And finally, you can’t leave Miami without indulging in its seafood treasures, especially the renowned stone crabs— a must-try culinary experience. Another favorite dining spot of mine is Houston’s in Aventura, which offers a delightful and intimate dining experience. The dining room at Houston’s in Aventura features beautiful views of Maule Lake, creating an inviting atmosphere that perfectly wraps up this Miami experience.
