We had the good fortune of connecting with Lhonette Charles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lhonette, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work always had a very important place in our lives but we realized it was not what our entire lives were about. Having enough time for ourselves, our partners and our kids is crucial to our overall wellbeing. It was actually the main reason why in 2020 we decided to start our entrepreneurship journey and open Studio Raūpo. Being successful women means a lot but would mean nothing if we don’t get to spend time with our families. At the end of the day we only get to spend time with our kids until they turn 18 and go to college. Wanting to make the most of these years, we worked hard to have a better work life balance. Being entrepreneurs allows us to have better control over our schedules to be able to reach our professional goals while being there for our kids every day and in the important moments.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Opening Studio Raūpo was the most challenging yet rewarding experience we had. We wanted to open a place that is more than just a hair salon; a place where a customer feels taken care of from the moment they open our door until they leave it.
It’s a luxurious immersion in a haircare and beauty experience that makes every one of our client feels truly special.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had friends visiting, I would take them around the unknown parts of Miami, the parts that tourists would usually skip or not know about.
There is more to this city than Miami beach or the usual popular spots. I love taking them to the hiden gems spots and small restaurants that have a story behind them.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am forever grateful for everything I was able to reach in life and I owe it to God.
