We had the good fortune of connecting with Lillian Khanna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lillian, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My company, L Khanna Productions, is a production company with expertise in “mission” videography. Some of my first clients were non-profits in Palm Beach County and still continue to be my most valued clientele. I started this company with the understanding that receiving donor dollars was all about the way is which their message was received. By this time I had sat on many boards and had orchestrated many non-profit events whose success directly correlated with the marketing. So I wanted to blend my videography talents with the mission of these organizations, and L Khanna Productions, LLC was created. My production company provides high quality, mission driven content and videography services for non-profits in Palm Beach County and abroad.
What should our readers know about your business?
It has been anything but a smooth road! There have been many, many years of not knowing how much to charge for a service, how to handle particular clients, how to be confident in my work, overall not knowing the worth of my knowledge and of my talent. 6+ years later, I still have moments of doubt but if you feel confident in what you deliver, then you are doing it right. They may not agree with the vision on first attempt, but if you deliver quality nonetheless, then you are doing your job. Early on I also used to wait for my clients to tell me what they were looking for in the project but now I realize they are not only looking for me to create the content but paint the picture with them. Using prompts and examples of work really help them visualize it and in return, help from just shooting in the dark with the vision. I also think age plays a huge factor. Because of my age, I think it took twice as much to prove myself but locally, I am respected in my field. Owning a business isn’t a destination; it is a journey. I want to let all business owners know that you can’t grow in comfort.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First I would take them to West Palm Beach! It’s an iconic city with great music and food. Then we would go to Palm Beach Island. Enjoy the beach and the scenery. You can’t leave without driving a bit and going to Miami or even the Keys!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout should be to my first clients for believing in me and my work! That would be The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness, The Boys and Girls Club of Wellington and Palm Beach County, and Community Partners.
