We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Becker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve been a health chef for over a decade and have always made crave-worthy comfort foods infused with superfoods.

About a year ago, my two little girls were diagnosed with gluten and dairy sensitivities. Having kids with allergies is no joke and can be a very serious time commitment for parents. My girls had such a sweet tooth but, as a busy working mom, I found it too time consuming to always make healthy desserts from scratch. Finding allergen-friendly snacks and desserts that were actually good for you and full of nutrients was nearly impossible so I decided to start Super Baked Foods.  Super Baked is an instant snack and dessert line of allergen-friendly sweet treats that are filled with nutrient-dense superfoods (like cacao, maca, and acai) and ready in under 1 minute.

Having worked in the food industry before, I knew I needed my idea to be 4 things in order to be a viable business:
1. Non-perishable (to eliminate food waste)
2. Light (to keep shipping costs low and margins healthy)
3. Taste amazing (I worked endlessly on creating the perfect recipe)
4. Something I believed in (if kids love sweets, why can’t we just put vitamins and nutrients in the sweets? Am I right?)

That’s how the idea of Super Baked Foods was born. I wanted to make a product that parents could feel great about giving to their kids. Our treats are packed with antioxidants, are vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-friendly.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a health chef and mom of kids with allergies, I wanted to create a product that made a difference in the food world.

Before Super Baked Foods, I founded and ran a large catering company, FarmCut, in NYC that fed thousands of people a day. It was wildly popular because all of our items were gluten and dairy free but we still made classic comfort foods like chicken fingers, meatloaf, pizza, etc. It was quite a labor intensive industry and I was honestly starting to burn out. After COVID-19 hit and I had a chance to spend more time with my 1 and 3 year old girls, I realized that I wanted to run a smaller, more meaningful business from home. My kids have always been obsessed with brownies so during quarantine I did the impossible. I made a delicious vegan brownie mix that is free of gluten, dairy, soy, refined sugar, and nuts. Then I threw in antioxidant-rich superfoods like maca, cacao, and acai to help boost mood and brain power and relieve stress.

The product was the easy part for me. Creating a brand, setting up a website & shopify store, optimizing SEO, organizing shipping & logistics, establishing an email marketing campaign, and trying to become a social media expert proved to be a little more challenging! It can be stressful sometimes to learn new skills as an adult but it is crucial to do so in order to keep our brains youthful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We love to have visitors! Most of our visiting families have kids so the weekend typically goes something like this:

Friday Night- Early family dinner at Pizza Al Fresco. We love their gluten-free pizza.
Saturday Morning- Off to 3 Natives for smoothies and acai bowls (I tell my kids they are having ice cream bowls for breakfast)
Saturday Mid Day- Beach picnic and swim with the kids at Juno Beach
Saturday Afternoon- A little visit to the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter
Saturday Night- Parent’s night out at Bilboquet in Palm Beach
Sunday Morning- Poolside brunch at the iconic Colony Hotel
Sunday Afternoon- Visit the South Florida Science Center in Palm Beach with the kids
Sunday Night- Takeout from Christopher’s Kitchen in Palm Beach Gardens, my absolute favorite vegan restaurant

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my two daughters who inspired me to make this allergen-friendly product. Their food allergies motivated me to make a healthy treat that all kids and parents can enjoy and feel great about.
