We had the good fortune of connecting with Lio Colon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lio, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had worked in other industries for different corporations and while I enjoyed being in the work force I did not have a passion for what I was doing. They say do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. Now I do what I love. I have to move and hustle but it is for me and the people around me. I was scared and apprehensive because I thought I needed to choose the perfect time. Turns out the perfect time never really came so i built up the courage, leaped and never looked back.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
True Lio is me and I am True Lio. My business is continuing to evolve but at its core it is about healthy living and wise decision making. I take pride in helping people optimize their lives, inside and out. Building a brand and a business is not easy but if it is a True expression of who you are it flows. Fundamentally I understand who I am and what I believe in and that is the cornerstone if my business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are blessed to live in paradise. We wake up every day where people vacation. We would go to Bal Harbour and eat at Carpaccio for lunch, shop until dinner time and eat at Makoto.
We would go to Aventura Mall, shop some more and eat at Bourbon Steak at the Turnberry.
A run on the bridge at Key Biscayne would be a must.
A trip to the beach there as well.
Our furry friends would accompany us to Coconut Grove for sushi at Omakai.
Miami Beach, of course!
A day at home so we could catch up on old times and make some French toast in the morning.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My daughter. I became a mother young and she has been with me through everything. We grew up together and without her I would be lost. She gave me purpose when I did not have one.
