We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My story and really my business came from my own personal struggle with weight loss. I was always the overweight girl and eventually reached 298lbs (before I stopped weighing myself, I know it was higher than that at some point).

I could go to a gym, I could get a nutritionist, I could get a therapist – I just couldn’t seem to find something all in one that addressed the deeper root cause of my obesity. I needed accountability and I needed a game plan for my lifestyle (I was working in sports with sometimes 80-90 hour work weeks). I have been working in self-development for over 12 years and it went hand in hand that I was walking through my own health journey of losing 100lbs naturally around that time and tracking my own mindset to see what was holding me back. I created a micro step blueprint to getting sustainable results.

I knew if I needed something more than just a workout routine and meal plan to get me sustainable results – others out there are looking for that same guidance and accountability. I am so passionate about it because I know what it is like to struggle, feel hopeless and desperate for a transformation.

What should our readers know about your business?
The V Trainer is an app that connects a real life human trainer with the advantages of technology. We have in-app chats that allow you to connect with your trainer to ask questions, check in, get educated and be encouraged and supported throughout your health journey.

I think what sets me apart is the experience I have with being overweight. I don’t know that compassion can be taught, in my experience I am able to identify some of the common mental and emotional roadblocks to changing the physical body. I take pride in the resources I pool together for each individual client to best serve them. The physical changes are a byproduct of the mental shift that takes place when we identify patterns within the mind (to see what is effective or not).

Creating a business is so similar to losing 100lbs. It is not linear, there are days where it is easier than others, it is often a solo-journey, character is built in the struggle and everything is a process.

As far as knowing me and The V Trainer – we meet people where they are. We hold our members accountable and place an agreement from the beginning – you must complete 85% of your workouts or you CANNOT renew your membership. We do not just want you to give us money, we want you to get the results you are willing to work for. We have accountability for different goals for each individual client so that healthy habits start to outweigh any old habits that don’t serve – new beliefs are being constructed through the entire process.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I LOVE THIS QUESTION!!!! Most definitely there would need to be some sort of boat rental to hit the water to see the coastline. I’d take them to walk the streets by Wynwood to check out art from previous Art Basel’s (without the crowds!)

I adore the amphitheater by Brickell for an outdoor concert on the lawn. Mango’s is a fun experience at night. I live in Fort Lauderdale – kissing Lauderdale by the Sea so I love a couple spots there – La Dolce Vita for Italian food right by Galt Ocean, Tarpon River Brewing company has awesome owners and a cool vibe (and great trivia!) I love Bar Rita for taco Tuesdays! Bubbles and Pearls restaurant (for things to do) in Wilton Manors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am so grateful to shout out all my teachers, mentors, guides and clients through the years. I have a couple clients that have shared their personal transformation and really in the beginning years of my business kept me alive! A very dear friend, Orville Aris popped into my mind immediately. He owns a very successful crossfit gym (Crossfit CVI, Pompano Beach) in south Florida and he really took me under his wing in terms of talking out different opportunities to help as many people as possible. From programming to marketing, Orville has been the greatest support and cheerleader for my dreams. Truly not enough gratitude on earth for him!
