We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizbeth Herrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lizbeth, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was tired of adding so much value to someone else’s dream/company with very little appreciation. I know my worth and what I am capable of accomplishing so I decided to apply all of that energy to myself and my dreams instead. I want to be the type of business owner that employees remember for the rest of their lives. I love helping people in general and my goal is to enrich the lives of others through my company’s vision and accomplishments.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I co-founded The Hype Firm and it is a boutique music PR firm in Miami. The Hype Firm focuses on getting up and coming artists recognition through media/press and events. One of our clients Keella Garre, I also manage and have been working to develop her into a super star. So PR and Artist Management under The Hype Firm has been where I’ve proudly applied the lessons I’ve learned so far in my 4 years in the music industry, with a mission to help artists. As a woman in the music industry it hasn’t been the easiest road to go down but it’s been the most satisfying part of my life because despite any obstacles I’m proud of how I persevere and I continue to pave the way for other female entrepreneurs to successfully enter the music industry. I am also working in the web3 space with Web3 Trap’n where the focus is to provide knowledge and bridge the gap between inner cities/minorities & web3 – through tools such as music. It’s been an exciting few months collaborating with other creatives and entrepreneurs throughout different industries, so keep a lookout. What I would want the world to know is that when you move with good intentions & you work hard that good things will come to you & you can accomplish anything you desire.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Miami there are a plethora of things to do, but I would say I’d definitely take a friend to any Groot Hospitality establishment. Whether for dinner or a fun night out, Dave Grutman has done an amazing job of making his businesses the go-to place for A-List celebrities & tourists alike. Next I’d make the trip up to Fort Lauderdale for a beach day because the beaches are cleaner and calmer up more north. Lastly, because of my business I’d take my friend to a cool recording studio and show them where I get to spend my days. Miami has established itself as a place for fun, food, sun and music and I’d show my friends all those amazing things in my city.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to first give a shoutout to my family, without my mother’s support I wouldn’t be able to have as much freedom for my creative pursuits. My brother Justin, who is developing into a musician, motivates me every day to disregard the negative & continue pushing through and revolutionizing the music industry. Lastly, my business partner Eli Hawkins was the first person to give me a chance in this industry & has believed in me just as much as I believe in myself.
