Meet Lizzie Peress | President & CEO Sit Still South Florida

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizzie Peress and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lizzie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I decided to bring Sit Still Kids Salon to the South Florida market after struggling to find a great hair salon for my kids! When my youngest child was born, I had to drive over half an hour to the closest children’s hair salon to get her first haircut, and while the haircut that we received was fine, the experience and atmosphere of the salon left a lot to be desired. I wanted to change that for the parents in our community. Kids deserve to get their hair cut in a cool, modern place too with exceptional customer service! I was immediately inspired. As a parent, I want to know my child is receiving a great haircut, and I want to be able to chill and enjoy the experience, too. Once I found the Sit Still franchise, I knew that it was the perfect fit for me, and I couldn’t be more excited to elevate the kids haircut experience for all of our clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sit Still Kids Salon is THE modern kids salon in South Florida. Our mission is cuts for kids, chill for parents, fun for all! We believe the salon experience is about much more than just getting a haircut. Our clean and fresh vibe sets us apart and allows children to enjoy the experience without being overstimulated. When clients arrive for haircuts, children will enjoy playing or creating art while parents are offered a beverage (that includes wine + beer, too) before starting their service. All of the products we use are clean, free of harmful chemicals and up to EU standards. Our stylists are trained on cutting and styling all types of hair for boys and girls! (Mom, we can give you a blowout, too!) We also pride ourselves in our awesome retail section in the front, a mini toy and accessories store that kids LOVE. Sit Still is also known for our fabulous birthday parties. We offer sparkle strands, manicures, specialty braids and styles, glitter tattoos and a whole lot of fun for kids of all ages.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a Laudy girl! So, most of my time would be spent in and around Fort Lauderdale. We would wakeup and head over to the beach for a long walk along A1A and then head for breakfast and a coffee at Archibalds Village Cafe or The Village Bakery. Java and Jam is another one of my favorites! Then, after we freshen up we would head to Las Olas to enjoy shopping and have some lunch at Louie Bossie or and perhaps pop into Vinos or Sixty Vines for a glass of wine. I would love to take her to the NSU Art Museum to enjoy some incredible art. I love the Brightline, so we would likely take the train down to Miami for dinner to dine at either Cote or Surf Club, two of my favorite spots for dinner, before returning home. If we had more than a weekend we would explore Birch State Park, Fort Lauderdale Beach, and explore the city on the Water Taxi! With all the dining out, we would need to workout, so I would love to catch a class at Pure Barre or Yoga Joint. No matter what, I would make sure she caught a show at the Broward Center. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful and culturally diverse city to live in. I love the opportunity to show it off to all of my friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be able to be the business owner, wife and mother I am without my tribe!!! My husband, Jonathan Peress has been a rock by my side for over 20 years, and has always supported me following my dreams. My mom, Barbara, often helps with the kids when I can’t be in as many places as I would like, and I have an incredible village of friends that supports me 24/7. I am also incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful staff who believes in the mission of Sit Still and loves what they do! Without them, we would be nothing.
