We had the good fortune of connecting with Lmfao Slim and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lmfao, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I was in my junior year of high school, graduation date was coming up. I was failing, I been failing school since I was in elementary school. Time was running out and I had no direction in school or in life of where I wanted to take myself. I turned to God, I prayed and asked God to click something in my mind to do with my life. Soon after, comedy clicked. People been saying I was a comedian since I could socialize, the word was just too big for me to comprehend at the time. I was failing school from telling jokes, if I wasn’t making the class laugh, I was sleeping. I feel purposeless when I ain’t doing comedy, lifeless. Comedy ain’t my career, it’s me, I am comedy. I remember when I was about six years old I used to mimic sex strokes to T-Pain “Bartender”, everybody used to think it was funny, I used to be at parties getting my stroke on. Growing up people always said my laugh sound like dolphins. I used to hold back my laughs from my crushes in school so they dont be thinking I got a problem or I’m weird. I used that laugh as a staple in my career, in my skits and shows ill do the iconic laugh “tehehe”.

I was seventeen when I first walked on stage for the first time in my career. I was at Arts Garage in Delray Beach, FL. It was during covid, everybody had mask on and sanitizing everything. I have asthma, I told my mom im doing comedy in Delray. She panicked she was concerned for my health, telling me “its dangerous” “you’ll get sick”. I took the risk, I went with my cousin. Im going to be honest, I got sick the following week. My mom was in my ear “I told you, now you’re sick!”, thank God it wasn’t covid. After the horrible performance it was, I still felt like I achieved a milestone in my life. I was nervous, the lights was bright, I ain’t know what to expect. After the show I was excited as ever, I was calling all my friends, dancing in jubilation! I lowkey felt like people was going to ask me “Hey aren’t you that guy from the comedy show?”. Nobody asked me that…

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a comedian, what set me apart from the rest is I am, the “Comedy Menace”. Nowadays, people petrified to say how they feel, ima speak my mind. If it hurt your feelings grab a bandaid. I’m most proud of being able to say I’m working toward my dream, for you to take this away from me I’d have to be dead. To get to where I am today was a grind, still got a long way to go. Nothing on earth come easy, I never expected this to be either but I’m damn sure ready to take what challenge dare tries to face me, I was seventeen in the midst of Covid with asthma when I first went on stage. I overcame these challenges by prayer and faith. This career tends to get discouraging at times, but God picks my chin up. A lesson I’ve learnt was plant the seed you want to reap when it harvest. I want the world to know to keep God ahead and convert your dreams to life, FTG.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Assuming you mean my home, Palm Beach County, I ain’t taking him anywhere. Palm Beach County lame as ever. i dont go out much but if I did, this where id spend my time

Xtreme action park (Fort Lauderdale): This aint Palm Beach but down here everything neighbored. Xtreme an activity spot with laser tag, trampoline park, arcade, bowling, and more. My sister used to take me here when I was in middle school with my cousins. We’d do the rope course and bazooka war.

Palm Beach Skate Zone: Skate zone was always fun. I love ice skating, at first I be scared but I get used to It. My sister used to taken me and my cousins here too. We’d race on the ice, see who can do the most laps, dance on the ice. If you was cool, you’d get the light up grill. Skating past kids with your mouth looking like a strip club, all types of lights flashing.

Delray Beach: Delray Beach a go to. I spent many late nights at Delray beach just vibing. Right before the beach, its a strip. Movie theatre, ice cream, restaurants, live music definitely a highlight in Palm Beach.

Club/Parties: Im motion man, every week its a party over here. Clubs and venues always hosting a party or brunch. If you know the right people you could find house parties too. I love turning up but I never been the person to club every week, every now and then you’ll find me in the club.

My circle: My favorite way to spend a weekend is with my circle. I love my guys, we have the best times with each other. We be having a helluva a time on a curb by the pawn shop on Boynton and Congress. Every time we all together its always a time we could reminisce on. My best friend, I love spending time with her. i enjoy every second I spend with her, we watch movies, bake, make food, go out. A lot of days we spend in the apartment just talking and laughing. She been there for me through many of my dark days. I love spending time with my best friend, when i gotta go home I be missing her, real bad. I love my best friend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to God for keeping me above waters when I was supposed to drown. A lot of times peoples pain go unnoticed, but God knows. God will always be my support system, he my rock. In my brightest days I give him praise, in my darkest days I give him praise. Nobody will ever support me as much as he do.

Shoutout my parents for leaving they home country (Haiti) and bringing us here for an opportunity, they work hard. My parents work to give us a better opportunity, I dont want to take that for granted. I could of been in Haiti promoting the violence. instead im here, making people laugh. My mom always praying for me and my dream, I wouldn’t be this far with her and her prayer. My dad working six days a week to keep a roof over us, food for my mom to chef up, water, power, etc. I could say their work play a major role in mine. Seeing your dad work six days a week and do what he do, it formed my mind to think overtime is just a regular shift.

Shoutout my circle, I love the people I keep close. My homeboys being there for me for anything. My best friend for being there through the journey, keeping it real. My brothers, sisters, cousins, aunties, uncles attending my shows at the improv.

Shoutout Benjamin Franklin, I he a cool friend to keep around, I always got to have plenty of him. Benjamin Franklin keep it a hundred. i love them blue strips. I dont discriminate, I like Ulysses Grant, Andrew Jackson, Alexander Hamilton, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington, im a slut I love them all, rawr.
