We had the good fortune of connecting with Lolita Leopard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lolita, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to strategically recognize what I wanted to do. I knew that I didn’t want to work for anyone anymore so I fully invested in myself, my talents, and trusted the process and VIOLA!!! Im traveling all over the world performing my music, teaching runway, taking advantage of all opportunities and just showing up being my true authentic self!! Like I really am THE JOB!!!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets my art away apart from others is that everything I do comes from pure intentions. I never was the type to follow trends, I set them. And I’ve always stayed true to my art no matter who doesn’t see it…somebody will and they’ll appreciate every bit of it!!

it definitely has been a very hard journey because my life has been a pattern of no one seeing or believing in who I am and what I bring to the table until I pop out SLAYING!!!! I overcame these obstacles by staying consistent to the mission no matter who didn’t see it for me.

I learned to stay focused, keep my eyes on the prize because life will always be life no matter how positive or negative it can be, its what you do in the moment to overcome it.

I want the world to know that my brand and story is truly me….I am a human who is just here setting the standard for myself and my community. I am the true definition of a pure strong resilient soul!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
ok so boom…I live in NYC right??? but I feel like I wanna put on for my hometown right now..no shade love NYC but I’m shining a light on the DMV (we don’t get enough love)

First off for breakfast, I’m taking my bff to Country Style Chicken and Waffles in Temple Hills Md. They have THE BEST WAFFLES and Half and Half (lemonade ice tea) in the DMV area!! uggghhh sooo good!!

For lunch, we’re going to do chicken tacos at Silvestre’s in District Heights MD. Very affordable, very fresh, and filling

For dinner we are headed to Lauriol Plaza in Northwest DC a very exquisite Tex-Mex restaurant that has awesome frozen margaritas, great ambiance, and fresh food options. My favorite dish is the Pollo Saltado!!

And for dessert, it is a must that you make your way to Southwest Soda Pop Shop at the Waterfront DC…theirb desserts are definitely one of a kind! from their Strawberry funnel cake fries, banana boat shots, and so many other sweets to fulfill your sweet tooth!!!

As you can see I am a HUGE foodie.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off I would like to give a shoutout to God and my ancestors because without their guidance, love, and resilience I would not be here. 2nd my grandmother for being my first true backbone to any and everything I put my mind too…she is really THE GOAT!!
My mom for being my biggest support system!!!!!
My Partner for literally handling anything I need or want..he would be considered the one who MAKES IT HAPPEN BY ANY MEANS!!!!
My tribe..OH MY TRIBE!!! Like we really have each others back through thick and thin I can truly count on my siblings till the end!!!!!!
To my Chosen families, The House of Juicy Couture and Miyake Mugler, the way you all trust and believe in ALL OF ME truly shows the pure love we have and share for each other.
My strong supportive Communities, The Dmv Urban Modeling Scene and the Ballroom Scene, I would not be who I am if it wasn’t for the life lessons, the good, the bad, the ugly, and most importantly THE ARTS!!!!

AND LASTLY….MY HOMETOWN THE DMV!!!!!! Yes we have had our shares of up and downs, but ill never turn my back on you guys EVER!!!!!!!!!
