We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori Rizzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lori, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am an epic failure as an employee. Period. I am a Type A, extremely principled and strong willed, determined and driven. I always felt stifled working for someone and undervalued. I think “big” and did not want to be conforming to the minds of mediocrity and small mindedness
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been a serial entrepreneur since my teens. I love the excitement and autonomy in having my own business. I thrive on a challenge and also developing and mentoring others. I treat all my staff with great respect and it is like we are all family. When emergencies come up in this business as they always do, our team pulls together and we get it done. My vendor partnerships are also key and we too feel the same. No one can do it alone you need good people working alongside you. Nothing has ever been easy for me, I have had to work harder, read and research more than normal and make good solid business decisions. Giving up has never been an option for me if I wanted to work for myself. My business is evolving especially in these trying times. I am excited. I am working on more ways to help out my clients and any business that may need use my services. I always want to add value to my clients, anticipate their needs and be of service and this now is my focus.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The places we would go would be the beaches for sure as well as Atlantic Avenue A trip to Miami’s South Beach is a must! Drinks and dinner would be the Four Seasons, The Breakers and Eu Palm Beach. The Colony is so unique and cozy we would need to visit there as well. The Flagler Museum is a nice take-in I personally love animals and actively involved in rescues and love love love Lion Country Safari. Especially at the end of the car trip when you can get out and be face to face with the giraffes. A zoo trip to Miami and swimming with the Dolphins would be a definite.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My story comes from survival. I had little support, encouragement or cheerleaders, in fact quite the opposite. I started thinking big when I was forced into single motherhood and was very much alone. I could’t work full time in my career before I had my daughter because I had no childcare and could not afford childcare.so I chose to stay home and raise her myself. Living on nothing but child support I started thinking “big” at that time and began a business out of my home – everything evolved when I realized I had marketable talent.
