We had the good fortune of connecting with Louidji Joseph and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Louidji, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
My name is Louidji Joseph. I was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I came to the U.S. at the age of five. My parents decided to migrate to the U.S. to look for a better life for my sister and I. It was a big culture shock to me. However, I witnessed my mother and father work hard to provide for us. My grand mother was my primary care taker. Given the fact my parents was out working hard. This is why I came up with the name Doye’ in Doye’Me Gallery. My grandmother name was Doye.

Marie Lacroix also known as Doye’Me Gallery was very impactful to making the man I am today. Doye taught me how to be a gentlemen. Doye taught me how to treat people as you would like to be treated. Mommy Doye taught me that a man is valued by his principles and his hard work. Doye’Me taught me life is short. That you should appreciate the time you have with the one’s you love. I lost mommy Doye’ in my early teens. This is why when I created this business I decided to dedicate the name of the business to my grandma.

As I continued to grow as a man, I experience allot of life changing experience. However, I was always reminded of the principle my parents and more importantly my grandmother taught me. I found myself at my lowest in my early thirties. I had time to sit and reflect for two years, as to what my life has become. After my time of reflection and education. I found that there’s other alternative to making a living. Doye’Me is that new alternative.

This will make a living of all that Doye’ stood for. This is not just financial but more personal. My grandma lives through this business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am currently an Operation Manager for an aircraft part distributor, I’ve been in the industry for five years. My nine to five is what helps me fund Doye’Me Gallery.

Life is what set me apart from others. I believe we all have something we can gain from everyone’s life. No life is the same. Similar? Yes! However, I would say that I learned allot that makes me the man I am today. I overcame my obstacles by making sure I seek counseling from the Word Of God. Then I seek counseling from my trust worthy supportive group. This can be books, mentors, family, church, and an organization that focus on helping others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Miami, so there’s allot of places I could take a best friend. I know of some good places to eat Food R’ Us is a great place to get some authentic Haitian food. I would also take them to the Little Haiti Culture Center. They be throwing some pretty cool concerts. We definitely have to visit Bayside. Might just hit the Kaseya Center (Miami Heat Arena) and watch a game. I would definitely introduce my friend to the family.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to first give credit to God. Without him I would not be here, I also want to credit my wife without her support this would not be possible. My mother and father whom is still vital to this day in my life. I could never forget my grandmother Mommy Doye’. “I love you mommy Doye”.

During my time of reflection I read some great books that changed my whole perspective about earning money. Rich Dad Poor Dad, Think and Grow Rich. Napoleon Hill foundation was very supportive during my time of reflection. I recalled reaching out to them by letter, and they were kind enough to write back and provide me with some reading material. Your Greatest Power was one of the material that help me realize something. That I control my actions and my reaction. That’s Your Greatest Power. I could name so much more that it would be to long of a paragraph.
