We had the good fortune of connecting with Lourdes Casanova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lourdes, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is more than just an uncomfortable precursor to possible “success.” Risk is a journey of its own, with an intrinsic value independent of traditional views of success. An inherently brave act, risk-taking requires making decisions in the face of the unknown. Risk-taking fosters confidence, self-worth, and resilience. To that end, risk-taking is a success in its own right. Some of my proudest moments in running Casanova Law have involved risk-taking, whether they were “successful” in the traditional sense or not. With each risk that I have taken – administrative, marketing or otherwise – I have grown on a personal level. Ultimately, the strength, courage and knowledge gained from these experiences are what have truly made me feel successful as a business owner. With the achievement of personal success, professional success has naturally followed. Of course, risk-taking in a law firm also necessitates comprehensive research and planning prior to taking chances. This is especially true when the risk involves a client’s case rather than a business decision. The bravery of risk-taking is not in entering something blindly; rather, it is in trusting in your level of preparedness after carefully considering the possibilities. At Casanova Law, we plan for every possible legal contingency to mitigate a client’s risk.

What should our readers know about your business?
Casanova Law is a Palm Beach County law firm providing superior representation in the areas of criminal defense, DUI, traffic tickets and immigration. As a former prosecutor and first-generation American, I developed the desire for a closer connection to justice early in my legal career; I wanted to have the ability to take the cases that meant the most to me, and act on those cases with my clients’ best interests in mind – without having to answer to any red tape. This was made possible when I founded Casanova Law, P.A. in 2015. As the owner and founder of Casanova Law, I have the honor, privilege and pleasure of representing those whose life and liberty is at stake. My legal background in criminal law, combined with my personal experiences as the daughter of Cuban immigrants, has made me uniquely equipped to defend the accused and protect the undocumented community. As I enter my fifth year as a sole practitioner, I am grateful for the continuing opportunity to have a positive impact on those who need it the most. Starting my own law firm was not easy; however, it was a risk I was willing to take in order to fulfill my goals as a lawyer and as a member of the Hispanic community. All of the risks and challenges have been worth it; by not giving up and continuing to do right by my clients, I wake up every day with a sense of purpose.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
As a native of Palm Beach County, I may be a little biased when I say that we have some of the BEST restaurants. But I think you’ll agree with me if you check out the following places: Hullabaloo – a gastropub on Clematis street in West Palm Beach, boasting a daily changing menu accompanied by innovative cocktails and live entertainment. Little Moir’s Food Shack – a trendy “hole-in-the-wall” restaurant in Jupiter with a daily changing menu, delicious sangria, and performances by local musicians. The Capital Grille – Yes, I know this one is not unique to Palm Beach County. However, The Capital Grille located in Palm Beach Gardens has consistently outstanding food and service! If you’re visiting in the summer, you must try “The Generous Pour” wine tasting event.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family is the reason for my success and my motivation to continue succeeding. My husband, parents, brother, and sister-in-law have been incredibly supportive throughout my legal career, and my love and appreciation for them drives me to be a better person each day.
