Hi Lucas, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Lucas Metropulos, the founder of Metropulos Group, has built a fundraising and digital consulting company that generates a significant social impact on both the community and the world. With a background in starting and growing nonprofit organizations, as well as working as a professional fundraiser for many nonprofit organizations and educational institutions, Lucas has leveraged his expertise to support over 150 clients across the United States, Caribbean, and South America. He was born and raised in South Florida and holds a BA in Public Policy Studies and an MBA from Duke University.

Through his work, Lucas has helped these causes and organizations raise over $100 million from tens of thousands of donors. By maximizing their fundraising success, Metropulos Group enables nonprofits and other organizations to achieve greater impact in realizing their missions. Metropulos Group is a unique and impactful fundraising and digital consulting company that stands out in the industry. What sets us apart is our commitment to working hard and proving ourselves, which has earned us a reputation for excellence. We take pride in our ability to deliver results and exceed expectations, leading to recommendations and referrals from satisfied clients.

Our journey began just before the COVID-19 pandemic, and it quickly became evident that experienced fundraisers were needed to support organizations that were struggling during these challenging times. Recognizing this urgent need, we stepped in to provide our expertise and help nonprofits navigate the unprecedented circumstances. This experience further reinforced the importance of our work and solidified our determination to make a difference.

As a lean team, we have a significant impact by working closely with organizations that may not have dedicated staff solely focused on development or fundraising. We simplify and manage the fundraising programs, providing essential support and guidance. Our approach is to be a resource and tool for organizations looking to expand their fundraising potential, allowing them to maximize their reach and impact.

Metropulos Group was born out of a desire to be a catalyst for positive change in the social impact space. As a former nonprofit founder, I witnessed the struggles and challenges that often hinder organizations striving to make a difference. This firsthand experience fueled my passion to educate others and create a network of clients where we can all learn from one another. By optimizing our reach and impact, we collectively serve and uplift the communities we care about.

Getting to where we are today in the business was not easy. We faced challenges, especially during the pandemic, with limited resources and uncertain circumstances. However, we overcame these hurdles by staying resilient, adapting our strategies, and remaining dedicated to our mission. We leveraged our expertise, built strong relationships with clients, and continuously sought innovative solutions to navigate the ever-changing landscape.

Throughout our journey, we have learned valuable lessons. We discovered the power of collaboration, realizing that by working together, we can achieve greater impact and create positive change. We have witnessed the transformative potential of philanthropy and the significant role it plays in addressing societal challenges. We have also learned the importance of staying adaptable, embracing technology, and constantly evolving to meet the evolving needs of the organizations we serve.

If my best friend was visiting the area for a week, I would ensure they have an unforgettable time exploring the vibrant and diverse attractions of South Florida. Here’s a sample itinerary that includes a mix of exciting activities, delicious cuisine, and opportunities to give back:

Day 1-2: Miami Beach

Start the trip by soaking up the sun at Miami Beach, where we can join the locals and other visitors for a lively game of beach volleyball.
Enjoy the bustling atmosphere of South Beach and explore the iconic Art Deco District.
Indulge in the culinary delights of Miami by dining at some of my favorite spots in the Brickell area, renowned for its diverse cuisine options.

Day 3: Wynwood

Head to the trendy neighborhood of Wynwood, known for its vibrant street art and hip atmosphere.
Take a stroll through the Wynwood Walls, an outdoor art gallery showcasing stunning murals by local and international artists.
Explore the eclectic mix of shops, galleries, and cafes, and perhaps stop by a local brewery or wine bar to enjoy some drinks.

Day 4: Giving Back

Since my life revolves around nonprofits, I would arrange a visit to a local organization like the Miami Diaper Bank.
We can spend a couple of hours volunteering and making a positive impact while experiencing the spirit of giving back that is ingrained in the community.

Day 5-6: Water Adventures

Take advantage of South Florida’s stunning coastline and plan a day out on a boat.
Engage in snorkeling or try out thrilling water sports like jet skiing or paddleboarding.
Enjoy the scenic views, soak in the ocean breeze, and make unforgettable memories.
Throughout the week, we would make sure to savor the culinary delights that Miami is renowned for. From sampling authentic Cuban cuisine to exploring top-rated restaurants, we would embark on a culinary journey, savoring the diverse flavors that the city has to offer.

In addition to the planned activities, we would also keep an eye out for any local events, live performances, or cultural festivals happening during our visit. South Florida has a vibrant arts and entertainment scene, and we would seize any opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local culture.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to two remarkable women who have had a profound influence on my journey and continue to inspire me every day: my late mother, Georgia Metropulos, and my late grandmother, Evelyn Mitsos. Their values, teachings, and unwavering support have been instrumental in shaping who I am and the work I do.

My mother and grandmother instilled in me the importance of giving back and caring for others. They taught me that true success is not measured solely by personal achievements, but by the impact we have on the lives of those around us. They exemplified the spirit of compassion, kindness, and community engagement, serving as beacons of inspiration.

From a young age, my mother and grandmother emphasized the significance of community and the power of unity, particularly during challenging times. They showed me that by coming together, we can overcome obstacles, support one another, and create positive change. Their lessons instilled in me a deep belief in the transformative potential of individuals and the collective impact we can achieve.

Both my mother and grandmother demonstrated that a single person, driven by passion and purpose, can make a tangible difference in the world. They led by example, showcasing how their actions could motivate others and inspire them to join the pursuit of positive social change.

Although they are no longer with us, the legacy of my mother and grandmother lives on in everything that I do. They continue to guide and influence my work, reminding me of the importance of empathy, generosity, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
