We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucian Nastasi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lucian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I guess the goal for a lot of people is financial freedom while focusing most of your energy on something that is meaningful to you; That sounded great for me and I’m pursuing it. Then there is the thrill of taking pictures and capturing all the raw emotions and personality of my clients.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was born in Romania, where I started my photography adventure, shooting weddings and portraits. Then the opportunity to move to the US came, and I had adapt to the new life. I started working in restaurants, alongside with trying to make a name of myself as a wedding photographer. I cannot say it was easy, but I always had a good work ethic and that definitely helped me. What goes around comes around became very true in everything I have done, always trying to do good. I love capturing the emotions and raw moments of my clients, telling their real story through my photography. Then seeing their joy after watching their galleries is extremely gratifying.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends would visit, I would take them to different locations. I love hidden charismatic places, like a natural areas, a walk in nature that ends up on a beautiful beach, a boat ride in the Everglades, and a lot of ethnic food restaurants.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I found a lot of inspiration and motivation in photographers and groups. Some I had interacted with, then some only through their albums: Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Be-Light Photography, Larisa Stinga Photography, Wolves Workshop, and basically any photograph that tells a story.
