We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis Dario Del Pup and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luis Dario, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?

It was the year 1995, I was 15 years old, when my dear mother, mother of 4 children, prevented my brother Silvio from continuing to pay a savings plan to get a new car from an agency, then my brother who liked to go to classes theater and always lived doing performances, decided to invest the money saved in a camcorder, I remember that in those years there were very few people who could afford to go to a mall and buy a semi-professional camcorder with cash
the camera was a Panasonic NV-M3000 which shot in mono sound on VHS tape
Like my brother somewhat frustrated later as he did not give interest to his new camcorder, so I began to read the instruction manual and film short films without scripting dialogues, everything was filmed like that, I always loved and love cinema, so I gained experience on how to make better scene cuts, to edit on an old computer Pentium II MMX of 233mhz that my other brother Leandro had bought and that’s how I began to internalize myself in the world not only of filming, but also of editing, at that time it was version 4.2 of Adobe Premiere
then with the arrival of Youtube I was learning more from colleagues who were uploading their knowledge to the platform and thus I was polishing my audiovisual creativity day by day for more than 27 years,

I think that fate put my mother Maria to make my brother Silvio change his plans so that I could have a camcorder in my hands at that early age.

In 2016 I managed to invest about $18,500 Argentine pesos, at that time it was about 1,400 USD
and move from the old camcorder to another Panasonic HPX171E and enter the world of digital filmmaking
Along with that investment came my first feature film with references to the movie Back to the future of which I am a fan.
I scripted the feature film called Back to the past, where with the help of friends and colleagues I was able to, as they say in Argentina when one does something big (throw everything on the grill).
In 2017 I moved to the city of Olivos – Buenos Aires, Argentina to make a documentary at my grandparents’ house, it was very moving to get to where all your relatives have passed more than once in meetings, birthdays, or the simple fact of get together to share with the family, in the documentary I tell my way of seeing things in my years lived in that house, I put photos taken in the house of the time, it was very good to have made that documentary, where in the end I put an old VHS where My grandmother and many cousins come out celebrating one of my grandmother’s last birthdays, which hurt me not having a video camera to keep track of my grandfather’s life, but well I put it there in photographs.

After making these two achievements, I started filming live rock bands, which by the way I love rock, draft beer, and well imagine doing what one loves, which is filming, plus that plus of seeing live bands and lights on the stage is a combo of pure adrenaline.

Currently I moved from Argentina my native country to Miami Beach – United States with my wife Victoria, currently we have our daughter Sarah (Yes in homage to Sarah Connor from Terminator)

We continue in search of knowledge day by day to continue growing and give our clients the best of the audiovisual world. Today, at almost 43 years of age, I can tell you that if you have a dream, even if your own environment does not tell you that you are capable, turn a deaf ear and follow your inner you that is always right and I say goodbye with a phrase that my mother Maria always says

Always forward, never backwards, not even to take
impulse

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well, I think that what I like most about the audiovisual world is to create the best possible content with low resources, it is not always having the latest technology or equipment, but having an original idea and capturing it on video, that is the goal.

This world is not easy to get far, but I think what brought me to the present is not stopping to listen to people who always want to get you out of your dreams, I’m not looking for fame, I just love filming, editing, acting, and well yes In addition to doing what I am passionate about, it generates an income, obviously more than satisfied, right?

The lessons I’ve learned on this path
that there are people who are not always going to see your dreams as achievable, but hey, it’s their point of view, not yours, right?
There are also many in the audiovisual world more advanced than you, the goal is to go straight without looking around or competing with anyone, you can only compete with yourself, that is the goal.

I prefer the world to know more about me than my brand

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Well, if I had the opportunity to invite my friend to visit me, I would give him a tour of the city of Miami Beach.
I would take him to Bal Harbour, after we went into the sea, I would take him for a cold draft beer at Norman’s tavern

Finally, I would invite him to my house to cook something tasty and talk about the family and the neighborhood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I would like to mention the unconditional support of my mother Maria Del Carmen, who always supported me in all my crazy things. I also want to thank my father Luis Alberto who always knew how to be the father that any child would like to have.

Also thank my family and friends for being part of my principles in the audiovisual world
