We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis David Pita Benavides and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luis David, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was a natural step in my journey. Coming from a humble background, where my family ran a bakery in Parque Tayrona, I learned the value of hard work and perseverance from an early age. My passion for music took me across continents—from Colombia to Europe—always chasing a dream inspired by the rhythms that shaped me: vallenato, champeta, salsa, hip-hop, R&B, reggaeton, and more.

My brand, The Code, comes from something deeply personal. My grandfather used to call me Luis Davinccy, inspired by Da Vinci’s code, and that name stuck with me. To me, music is like a code—full of patterns, secrets, and emotions waiting to be unlocked.

Building this business wasn’t just about making music; it was about creating a space where artists can bring their ideas to life, just like I’ve done through my own journey. I wanted to combine everything I’ve learned, from my experiences in different cultures to my love for diverse musical genres, and give others the tools to tell their own stories through sound.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey in music started when I was just a kid, fascinated by the sounds and visuals of HTV, MTV, and the biggest artists of the time—Michael Jackson, Daddy Yankee, Diomedes Díaz, and many more. I was always drawn to the beats and instrumentals, analyzing every detail of the songs that caught my attention.

As time went on, I kept investing in electronic devices to listen to music until my dad bought me my first PC. That’s when I discovered FL Studio, and from that moment, I started producing beats and recording my first songs.

One day, while walking to my girlfriend’s house, I came across some rappers freestyling in a park. They challenged me to improvise with them, and after seeing what I could do, they introduced me to KennyBeach, the producer who played a key role in shaping my career. From there, I started releasing songs that gained traction in my city. I was part of a duo that gained local fame, leading to collaborations and concerts with major artists.

But life had other plans. Financial struggles and my mother’s illness led me to move to Spain to support her. When she passed away, I went to Switzerland, where I fell into a deep depression. Eventually, I returned to Santa Marta, Colombia, during the challenges of the 2020 pandemic.

After that, I went back to Switzerland for a year, where I learned more about music production and started selling beats online. Then, I returned to Colombia before making the big move to Miami. I arrived with high expectations, but reality hit hard—I barely had time for music, which frustrated me. Then, a motorcycle accident left me in low spirits. But instead of stopping, I dove deeper into music production and vocal recording, sharpening my skills.

That’s when I created my brand, THE CODE INC., and since then, I’ve worked with Lalo Ebratt, Vaxtian, Breko, Totoy el Frío, Esdael, Erick Burgos, Nel Vila, Joe Vina, JCreaz, Fanegu, and many more.

My story is one of resilience, passion, and reinvention. What sets me apart is that I’ve lived music from every angle—as a fan, an artist, and now as a producer and engineer. I want the world to know that no matter where you come from or what obstacles you face, if you truly believe in your dream, you can make it happen. I’m still on this journey, working every day to reach global success in the music industry. Thank GOD

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Miami for a week, I’d make sure they had an unforgettable experience, balancing music, art, great food, and the best vibes the city has to offer.

Day 1 – Wynwood: The Artistic & Musical Side of Miami

We’d start the trip in Wynwood, the heart of Miami’s art and music scene. I’d take them to check out the famous Wynwood Walls, where street art from some of the best artists in the world is on full display. After soaking in the creativity, we’d hit up some of the best spots to eat—maybe tacos at Coyo Taco or a juicy burger at Kush. Then, we’d check out a live music spot or a cool lounge to vibe with Miami’s creative energy.

Day 2 – Key Biscayne: Inspiration by the Ocean

The next stop would be Key Biscayne, where the ocean views are next level. It’s the perfect place to disconnect from the city noise, breathe in the fresh sea air, and just let the inspiration flow. Whether it’s chilling by the beach or walking through Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, it’s a spot that fuels creativity.

Day 3 & 4 – Miami Beach: Sun, Sand & Energy

No Miami trip is complete without spending time at Miami Beach. We’d hit South Beach for the classic experience—white sand, turquoise waters, and the energy of Ocean Drive. After a day of sun, we’d grab dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab or something more laid-back like La Sandwicherie.

Day 5 – Little Havana: Cuban Flavor & Culture

I’d take them to Little Havana to experience the Cuban side of Miami—walk through Calle Ocho, sip a Cuban coffee at Versailles, and maybe catch some live salsa music at Ball & Chain. It’s a vibe that connects you to the roots of Latin music.

Day 6 – Brickell: Rooftop Views & Nightlife

To mix it up, we’d check out Brickell, Miami’s more upscale side. We’d grab dinner at Komodo or Zuma, then hit up a rooftop bar like Sugar to enjoy the city views at night.

Day 7 – Open Day for Surprises

The last day would be all about what my friend vibes with the most—maybe hitting up a recording studio, finding a cool jam session, or just relaxing before heading back home.

Miami has a unique energy, especially for artists and musicians. Every corner of the city has something inspiring, whether it’s the street art in Wynwood, the ocean at Key Biscayne, or the cultural mix in Little Havana.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people who have played a crucial role in keeping my project moving forward. First and foremost, my parents and grandparents, who worked tirelessly to educate me and teach me how to navigate life. Their sacrifices and lessons laid the foundation for everything I do today.

Then, there’s KennyBeach, my business partner and one of my mentors in music. His guidance has been invaluable, helping me sharpen my skills and understand the industry from a deeper perspective.

I also want to give a heartfelt shoutout to the artists and mentors who have supported me throughout my career. Their encouragement, feedback, and collaboration have pushed me to improve and evolve. A big salute to all of them—thank you from the heart!
