We had the good fortune of connecting with Luisana Ferrer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luisana, how does your business help the community?
My business focuses on helping others have a better relationship with food and with themeselves also. I think we need more campaigns like these because social media can be not so good to some kids or teenagers. I want to help others feel good about themselves and to see food as energy and positive things instead of being in risk of developing an eating disorder.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is in the Nutrition field, since thats what I am, a Nutritionist. What makes me different would probably be mi story. I suffered from Anorexia when I was a teenager and years later I decided that I was going to help others that could be in the same shoes I was once. I havent stopped learning with education and practice since I got my diploma because Science is always evolving. It has not been easy, but it has been worth it. I have made mistakes but the important thing for me is that I have learned from them. I want the world to know that we can prevent eating disorders and not only that but also treat them because recovery is possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me Miami has always been my favorite city. Lincoln Road would be the best place that comes to my mind, having a pizza and some wine after having a full day at the beach. Finishing with some gelato of course.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank everyone starting with my family for always being my support and pushing me to be my best. My professors in college and everyone that has put even a tiny bit on my education to be right now a Nutritionist that helps people everyday.
