We had the good fortune of connecting with Macy Calderon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Macy, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
To keep going. Building a business, fast or slow, takes a lot of perseverance. Being confronted with so many decisions as a founder can take a toll on you. There is when you have to remember your purpose and keep working towards it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Every piece of emme jewelry is handmade to make moms look and feel their best. I design every detail of jewelry thinking in a fantastic mom that goes from work to soccer practices, manages home and work, gives herself unconditionally, and needs a little reminder that love conquers all. I want every mom to wake up in the morning, put on a piece of jewelry, and say: I got this! But at the same time, emme jewelry is also what keeps me going every morning personally. Entrepreneurship is never smooth nor linear, but connecting to bring joy to others has brought a new perspective into my life. My proudest moment is every time I see my little girl Alicia recognizes one of my designs in someone else. Her eyes get wide open, a smile brights her face, and she points out: Look, mom! she is wearing your jewelry! Even though I started this business as a more profound way to connect and motivate other moms like me, it is rewarding to see my daughter feel pride and joy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love my little Village of Coconut Grove. We can learn history at the Barnacle Historic State Park, and we can have a picnic outdoors at Kennedy Park. We can take a boat ride from the Dinner Key Marine or appreciate Miami’s City Hall’s contrasting architecture, a 1934 building, in front of a high riser designed by Bjarke Ingels in 2017. And if you are about eating good food, Coconut Grove has the most delicious burgers at Lokal and delightful ice creams at Paletas Morelia. Miami is a big city with many activities to do, but my little Coconut Grove corner is a great place to visit. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to Miami Mom Collective @miamimomcollective. Finding a community of moms that share the same dreams and challenges as me has been a blessing. I feel encouraged and loved by being part of their community.
