We had the good fortune of connecting with Madd Kyng and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madd, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
In a market that can seem very saturated with everyone wanting to be a so called “Artist”, there will be some moments when you doubt yourself. There will be times when it feels much harder than you imagined and you will wonder if it’s time to give up on your dream. In those moments, you must push yourself to the mentality of “ this is all I have and I have no other option but to make this work”. Nothing great in life comes easy, just like a marathon, it’s not about going the fastest cause you’ll end up burning yourself out, but it it about never giving up so you can finish. Maybe you haven’t found the right passion that will give you that everlasting drive, maybe what your doing now is a stepping stone to what you really want to do, but know you must do it with all your heart.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art ranges from paintings that you can swipe up and down, tattooing and remolding Bars and houses with a artistic touch. There is no category for my work just it’s own versatile style, like something out of a Future Alice in Wonderland. As a creator, I’m proud of all my creations and as a young artist I’m eager to see what else I can create. I have a B.A in Painting & Printmaking which has given me the technical skill to transform ideas into reality, on top of having a wicked work ethic of 25/8 mind state instead of 24/7. Creating time is not easy especially if you are having to spread your energy around. If you want something bad enough then you will not stop until you get it overcoming all challenges just as in life. Madd Kyng is more than a name it’s a acronym meaning Mentally Advanced Driven Dreamer Know Yourself Never Give.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you are looking for culture, dining, shopping, unique attractions, and fun experiences, you’ll find no shortage of things to do in Houston. This is the fourth largest city in the United States and home to the famous Space Center Houston, renowned chefs, inspiring museums, and beautiful green spaces, complete with a bayou running through the heart of the city. Depending on your travel dates, you may even be able to take in a sports game or enjoy Houston’s signature event, the Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I say work hard and do it with your heart and other will see the determination and help. I know there were a few moments where I couldn’t see my potential of where I could go with my art , until I came across Alan Gabay. If it wasnt for Alan, who has knowledge of the art world and seeing my passion In my work, I don’t think my success would have been so forth coming. Alan to me is my Andy Warhol and I to him his Basquiat. Truly grateful for his help.
