We had the good fortune of connecting with Maegan Calle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maegan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started my own business, I did it with the intentions of expressing myself without using words. As a stay at home mom, finding work I can do at home was really important for me. When I created my first piece of resin, I knew I had a right future in the field.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began as a writer and now do a lot more resin creating. Writing is difficult and finding locations to share my poetry was tough. I find myself struggling with a similar concept with my resin because finding locations to set my stand and make sales are tough to come by. Challenges are part of everyday when you have a small business. Some days I mess up an ashtray and have to start from scratch. Other days, things go smoother but there’s never been a perfect day. Regardless, I love what I do.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start off with Pinecrest Bakery as an introduction to Miami at the food. We would hit the beach up, Miami Beach to be specific. I would have to take her to Whiskey Joe’s in Key Biscayne. The Miami motorcycle scene is unlike anywhere else. I would put my best friend on the back of my motorcycle and ride her around the city.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband is my rock. Without his support and him working a regular 9-5, this would not be possible. He has allowed me the opportunity to stay home with our son and finance my wild resin and writing pursuit. His support on my worst days has been what kept me going.
