We had the good fortune of connecting with Manuel Angarita and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Manuel, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work-life balance is something I’ve learned to prioritize more as my career has progressed. Over time, I’ve come to understand the importance of choosing projects that align with my sense of peace and well-being. I’ve realized that if a project is likely to cause stress and anxiety, it’s not worth compromising my balance, and I choose not to take it on. By being selective about the work I engage in, I ensure that my professional life supports, rather than detracts from, my overall happiness and tranquility.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Throughout my career, my artistic style has evolved significantly. With over 10 years of experience, I’ve developed a very personal style of digital collage that I’m truly proud of. It hasn’t been an easy journey, as I’ve dealt with anxiety and depression along the way. However, art has always been my best escape and a source of healing for me. It’s through this process that I’ve been able to refine my craft and create work that resonates deeply with me. My brand and my story are built on resilience, creativity, and the belief that art can be a powerful tool for overcoming life’s challenges.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Lately, I’ve preferring calm and low-key activities. So if my best friend were visiting, our itinerary would likely reflect that. We’d probably spend some relaxing days at the beach, maybe play some tennis, and try our hand at paddleboarding. I’m not really into big crowds or busy places these days, so our time together would be focused on peaceful, stress-free activities. It would be a week of simple pleasures, enjoying each other’s company in a serene setting.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve been incredibly fortunate in my career to have the unwavering support of my family and friends, who have always been there for me. They’ve played a significant role in my journey. Additionally, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with mentors like Andreina Fuentes Angarita and Tam Gryn. Their guidance and expertise in the art world have been invaluable, and I owe much of my growth and success to their mentorship.
