We had the good fortune of connecting with Maradona Tinker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maradona, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My role as a Bahamian Travel Influencer brings The Bahamas to life from a local perspective. The Bahamas is my home and I love sharing all of my authentic experiences with my people and the world. By creating content around these experiences it brings organic awareness to the communities I am apart of and to the ones that I visit on each island. Doing this allows travellers to better plan for their trip to The Bahamas which ensures a successful trip!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is showcasing and highlighting all that I love about The Bahamas as a native. It’s very crucial that I show the world my country through my lens in addition to typical commercial ads,
What sets me apart from the big boys is my audience goal. My audience goal first and foremost are Bahamians with an invitation to the world to join in. I want Bahamians to see the beauty of their country and inspire them to dive into it. As a Bahamian we tend to simply work here and leave the playing to tourists. We can do both!
It brings me incredible joy when a fellow Bahamian tags me in a post that shows them enjoying something or a place I recommended. Creating and finding content takes time, a lot of camera equipment and of course money but it’s my passion. It took the world stopping in 2020 for me to take a deep look into myself and my country thus cultivating a deeper appreciation for my birthright.
I’ve learned to embrace my mistakes and to ask for help when I need it. As a creator you’d be surprised who’s watching your growth and are willing to assist.
I want the world to know that The Bahamas is open for business and if. you need any assistance or inspiration in planning your trip here- I’m your girl!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Bahamas is made up of over 700 island and cays-16 of which are inhabited.
Here’s a few places you must visit if you ever visit Eleuthera- an island in The Bahamas:
The Sapphire Hole
I love jumping into this water filled cave! There are no fish in the water so there’s nothing to be afraid of.
The Glass window bridge
This is where two completely different bodies of water meet; only being being separated by a thin strip of rock!
Daddy Joes:
Stop here for some of the best food and drinks on the island!!! It’s such an authentic Bahamian restaurant and it is family owned.
I have so many other recommendations so be sure to follow me for more!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve had such incredible assistance from fellow travel influencers that have been in the game longer than I have! Crystal (@bahamianista) has been such a great source of knowledge and inspiration. I also have to shoutout my followers as we are creating such an authentic community on my platforms re: travel in The Bahamas.
