We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had worked at big law firms most of my career and it just was not very fulfilling. i was a slave to the billable hour system. My wife was due with our first son in 6 months and I was looking to have the freedom to be able to be with my family and help her while being able to only have to answer to myself. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have a full service title company where I handle residential and commercial real estate closings. I also have an affiliated law firm where I handle real estate litigation/transactions, estate planning, probate and other civil litigation. I worked at several law firms over the first 10 years of my career and I learned that in general, lawyers are not good businessmen. I saw what I liked and did not like about how those firms were run businesswise which helped me guide how I run my businesses today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much going on throughout South Florida it is really tough to pick one location. My wife and I are big foodies and love trying new restaurants. We would need to go to the usual spots such as Prime 112 and Joe’s Stone Crab but I think now there is so much to offer in Wynwood and the Design District as well. One restaurant I recently tried for the first time is Bakan in Wynwood and it was amazing. I always love taking friends to Komodo in Brickell. In addition to Miami we would also spend a day at the Hardrock Hotel and Casino. They really did a great job with the new Guitar Tower and everyone coming to town loves to see it. The pool and casino are great as well but they also have Council Oak which an incredible steakhouse. Another spot we would need to visit is the Turnberry Resort as they have an awesome water park for not just kids but adults as well. Bourbon Steak at the resort is probably my favorite restaurant in South Florida. Another gem in Hollywood is Sardeli’s which we love taking friends to. As far as other activities, I am a huge Miami Heat fan and have been a season ticket holder for 14 years now. A Heat game if in season is a must.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be anywhere without my wife. I’ve had some good mentors in my life but without my wife I would be nowhere today. She gave me the courage and motivation to make the leap and start my own Law firm and Title Company.
