We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcos Moran and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marcos, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to be able to do something that I love. Something that made me happy. Something that I wanted to jump out of bed for every morning. At first I wasn’t even worried about the money. I knew that if I worked hard and enjoyed what I was doing that the money would come.
What should our readers know about your business?
I own the busiest wakeboard and wakesurf school in the country. We are open 7 days a week and we work like crazy! This summer will be 16 years that I’ve had my business and I could not be happier. It took A LOT of hard work and dedication but it all paid off. I stated with 1 boat and now I have 3 boats, 2 fulltime employees, and 1 parttime employee. I want the world to know that we all absolutely love what we do and it is our passion. We all still ride at least once a week and are super involved in the wakeboard and wakesurf community.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well my first activity would be to get them on the water in some way or another. Boating, jet skiing, parasail… there are endless ways to enjoy the beautiful waters of Miami. I also love taking friends out to the everglades for an airboat tour. And of course they have to have some Cuban food and visit the famous South Beach!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and all of the people that I wakeboarded with when I was younger that would push me to learn new tricks, be a better rider, and taught me how to drive. That is not an easy skill to learn and it took a lot of patience from a lot of people!
