We had the good fortune of connecting with Margarette Swift and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Margarette, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, I remember sitting at work writing in a journal that I was decorating as my own. Then it dawned on me why not create my own. And I knew that journals were everywhere, so I had to ask myself what would make mine different? As I started writing some things down and thinking about my upbringing, I thought about all of the journals I wrote in. I had a very rough childhood from losing my mom at the age of eight, being kicked out from one home, to the next being sexually abused. I needed an outlet, and that outlet was going after God and writing in my journal, starting each letter saying, “Dear God, and that’s when it clicked create my own prayer journal. My goal is to spread awareness about who God is and how he has helped me as well as spread awareness about our mental health and how writing can be an outlet for anyone. .”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I create journals dedicated to healing the parts of you, you can’t see and to empower each and every individual to move on to the next version of themselves. It first came to mind when I was working on my college campus as an undergrad. I was working at the front desk writing in my journal and decorating it to my liking. It was then I knew God wanted me to create my own version. Throughout my entire life, all of the trauma I endured that helped me get through them was by going after God and writing letters to Him. When I first started it was hard a lot of trial and error but it took me watching lots of videos and praying on which route God wanted me to go. So of course I had the idea but it wasn’t until I lost a best friend due to gun violence that I believe he pushed me to actually launch my journals. A few lessons that I learned is that what works for someone else may not work for me, and it is ok to ask for help. I want the world to know that you will know who Margarette Janay Swift is and everything I do is lead by God. Whether it’s showing you how to do a skincare routine, or how to wear an outfit three different ways, you will see God through me. I also want you to know that I aspire to never stop learning and never stop loving. I aspire to always find the beauty in life by committing to happiness.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place I would take them is Lake Eola Park have a picnic by the lake or ride one of the ducks in the lake. Then I would see if they would want to do a few things; Go to Universal Studios, go to the winery in winter park, and on Sunday morning head to my church called Joshua Generation Outreach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God has placed so many amazing people in my life I’m not sure if I can pinpoint one person. So ill give a special shoutout to my family. My family is the best support system God could have ever given to me. I am because they are. I can always count on them to push me to be the best version of myself.
