We had the good fortune of connecting with Mari Draughon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mari, what do you attribute your success to?
One of the most important steps any brand can take is identifying their core values + aligning to them. Honest, friendly + quality are Eco Kleen of the Palm Beaches. We feel that treating each home that we service as if it were our own is what sets us apart and contributes to our continued success.

What should our readers know about your business?
Eco Kleen of the Palm Beaches provides professional exterior cleaning for residential and commercial properties. Family-owned + operated, we pride ourselves in quality work and total satisfaction with every project—small or large.

We are committed to providing honest, friendly + quality services. We do this through attention to detail, friendly customer service, and expert use of commercial grade equipment ensures that customers receive the most thorough and long-lasting results.

When we first purchased the business, we were both still very immersed in our careers, so it was difficult to really give Eco Kleen the time + energy it needed for growth + sustainability. Weekends were the only time we could dedicate to nurturing the business, and it just wasn’t enough.

In 2015, recognizing the business was going to require full-time attention, Josh walked away from his career with the union. Two years later, in 2017, the business had finally grown enough to allow it to become my full-time focus as well. So, it definitely took some time, focus, and patience to get where we’re at today.

Throughout the years we’ve learned the importance of being in relationship with your business. This means we must constantly be tapped into it to determine where there’s room for improvement + opportunity for growth. Our customers play a significant role in our relationship with the business. The feedback they’ provide helps us gauge what is and isn’t working, and where we can apply more attention.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
South Florida really has so much to offer! Having spent most of my life here, I find myself spend more + more time in the Juno Beach/Jupiter area, so this where I typically take out-of-towners. Some of my fave places to experience the outdoors + get a little grounding action include Cato’s Bridge, Juno Beach, Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Riverbend Park, and Loggerhead. Food options: Leftovers, Food Shack, Blue Water Taco, and Thirsty Turtle.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Damon Brown of Dentovations, Inc., for seeing something in me + nurturing it. He not only hired me in my first marketing role, but eventually became one of my first clients. It is because of him + all of the clients to follow that I was able to gain the knowledge + experience to create a meaningful brand in Eco Kleen of the Palm Beaches.

Others who have mentored, supported + encouraged me include: Bette Light of Light Years Ahead, Chris Tisi of Hyper Network Solutions, and Lauren Doko.

Books that played an important role in inspiring how I approach business: Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic! + Peta Kelly’s Earth is Hiring.
