We had the good fortune of connecting with María Alejandra Sandobal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi María Alejandra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Hi, my name is Alejandra Sandobal. And my store is Colibri Miami I’m argentine. and I have 28 years of experience in the world of fashion. I left my country because I saw that after 5 clothing brands advising on manufacturing, I had many employees to generate ideas in a world as beautiful as fashion. So I went for more. and i came to usa to grow up to prove myself to be better. this is how colibri was born. who has 1 year and a half in Miami. And open the store for woman your name is Colibri We open the store post pandemic. it was tricky at first. but today the fruits are seen. such as design and seams. In the store we offer the free alteration service. then you come choose your styles. your sets. and I adapt them to your body and the clients leave happy. apart in Colibri you find a space where many Latin women exhibit their hand crafted . so we also help everyone meet in one place. in Colibrí …. can such a small bird do so much in the forest? and if you knew how important each one is in this world. in Colibrí we make our world our place. Colibrí. Is hummingbird. Sorry my English. Thanks you Emma

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
when I arrive in the US. I thought about how to do my business here and differentiate myself from others. we were in a pandemic. people in masks. and I said little by little we have to return to being human. And I said our boutique is going to serve its clients very well, we are going to listen to them and the difference was in making the free alteration of what they bought here in the store itself. the beginnings were hard. but today the fruits are already visible. each client brought another and so today we have many that make colibri boutique a meeting place

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
good how we came to the US in a pandemic. all our immigration status took a long time and I had to stay alone with my children and husband in Argentina. It was very sad and the truth has not been easy but my family has been my main support. My husband believes in me and supports me in all my ideas. which I always have many. and my children who grew up next to an enterprising mother. I thank you too. myself for not giving up and moving on. emigrating at 47 is not easy. but here we are. firm rights and eager to continue growing and advancing. in a country that always gives us a reason to continue growing
