We had the good fortune of connecting with Marihon Angulo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marihon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business after being let-go of an engineering position with an oilfield services company I had spent 15 years with. My thinking process started recognizing who I was without a large transnational corporation title following my name in my business cards or any business meeting. And the first question I asked myself was: what did I like doing before I got it in my head that I would become and engineer and work in the oil industry?. After that the question was: what do I want to do in my life that contributes to the growth of others while I grow myself and my business?.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I became a certified infant massage educator in 2017 and that was the starting point of my bussiness My Land of Joy.

My Land of Joy is a conscious play-space project where families come together to have quality time with the little people they are raising. It is a space where we encourage parents/caregivers and any one attending with their little ones time and space to disconnect from everyday life to re-connect and bond deeply with their little ones.

We encourage families to play and grow as they remember what it is like to be kids and have fun with their Children.

Our motto is expanding consciousness while led by our kids.

Our most important work is to encourage adults to be more quiet and listen to their little ones, because we believe they are much wiser than we have allowed our ego-centric mind to believe.

What I want people to know about my brand and my personal/professional story is that it is never too late to change lanes and explore other sides of professional endeavors you want to try out, explore and construct. I also encourage myself daily not to give up, even if the going gets lonely or difficult; If you have a message you want to share with the world make sure you are consistent congruent and are always talking about your why.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a fan of the arts in all ways of expression. I love anything and everything cultural. I am always on the lookout for exhibitions, concerts and culture and community making efforts.

I am also in love with the beach or any body of water where amazing sunsets can be viewed from.

I have become a fan of the Coral Gables Museum and the Miami Museum of History. I also love science and the Frost museum of science has fantastic exhibitions and shows to explore.

As for the outdoors I love Matheson Hammock Park and the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens.

And to finish it off a stroll along Miracle Mile in the evening presents many choices for delicious food and drinks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The International Association of Infant Massage and Infant Massage USA

Marisa Peer and the Rapid Transformational Therapy School

And last but not least Schlumberger, I would not be who I am if I had not spent my early professional years working, expanding and having loads of fun while engaging in very challenging projects around the globe.
