We had the good fortune of connecting with Mario Steele and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mario, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?

Growing up on the Island of the Bahamas, I grew up the youngest of seven children. My father died when I was 2 yrs old and it left my mom to raise seven children all by herself. My mom is my inspiration, from working two and three jobs to make sure that we were not homeless or hungry to ensuring that we had clothing, shoes and all the essentials.

My mom Eleanor Steele inspired me to want the best for others and myself. Being a giver and trying my best to leave people better than you met them is what drives me. That is what my show Bible or Babel is all about. It is a show about giving, a show about helping those in need, especially in the time of a pandemic.

My mom is truly my greatest inspiration.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started the show Bible or Babel during the pandemic to help churches and nonprofit Christian organizations to help to meet the needs of the people during this time of stress and need. I am so proud that I was able to create a show that gives some relief and fun when life seems to be at a standstill. It is a time to laugh and love as a family. In order for us to have come this far we had to lose  so much, even though we have given up so much, we refuse to give in. We live by the motto We Trust God, in all we do we trust God. How do we overcome road blocks?  We keep going, we keep pushing, and we keep praying. We allow God to guide our steps in all we do. I know this may sound like a cliche, but our faith is how we make it day by day.  In all the failures and successes I have learned that you can’t stop going. You know that someone is watching and is looking at you for inspiration. Your story may be the one that saves a life. I want people and the world to know that we are a group of men and women that love the Lord and love people. Bible or Babel strives to bring good family entertainment. We aim to inform, to educate, and to entertain. We are reaching over 200 million people on The Now Network and many other streaming services.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Apex NC is an amazing little town. It has great restaurants and talented people. There are some magnificent parks for walking, relaxing and picnics, out door summer concerts, etc…

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think I did the shout out in the answer to the question, who inspires me. However, there are some amazing people in my life. Especially the women in my life. My amazing wife Carla Steele that encourages me everyday even when things are not going the way I want or the way I think they should go, my wife encourages me to never give up. My mother-in-law Sheilah Sams, one of the most amazing people I have ever met. They say when you marry a woman you marry her family and I truly married well. Sheilah is a breast cancer survivor and the admin of Bible Or Babel. I was told by my Pastor Hugh Alston that when you have someone that can believe in you being successful, that is all you need. I think I have found those individuals in my mom, my mother-in-law, and my amazing wife.
