We had the good fortune of connecting with Maritza Coscarelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maritza, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our thoughts matter so much. Every action begins with a thought which informs our attitude and drives our behavior. Minding our thoughts can be the most empowering step we take in life and business.

To be fully transparent, I made a highly unconscious decision in 2015 to take a j-o-b I knew very little about. What I found was a freezing cold and toxic environment, figuratively and literary. “What was I here to learn?” I asked myself.

Years before, coaching, mentoring and thought-leadership had come to my attention. These were the way I could offer tremendous value after decades of dancing professionally, teaching peak performance, and luxury service in the hospitality industry. The seedling of my coach certification and practice began to germinate. Within days, I registered to begin a Life Coach certification program with The Coach Training Alliance.

In a warm shower on a frigid morning in NYC, it poured into me that I was called to guide people by asking thought provoking questions, listening deeply and being brave enough to share my personal and professional stories, and the lessons learned. Within days, I registered to begin a Life Coach certification through the Coach Training Alliance.

How had I gone from the bright stage lights to the darks of depression and self-loathing, then with support healed, expanded and evolved back into my power. These became the seeds of Maritza Coscarelli Coaching where we are guiding, mostly women, to the keys to their self-empowerment; encouraging them to speak up for their good and the good of all. The results are more well-being, joy and freedom than we may think possible.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the Founder and Chief Empowerment Officer of Maritza Coscarelli Coaching (www.MaritzaCoscarelli.com) where we guide smart high-achieving women and heart-centered men that may not fully value themselves to use the keys to self-empowerment and allow their unique brilliance to shine. This results in a life of well-being and a business or career that continues to expand with joy and ease.

My experiences as a wife, mother, professional dancer/actor, Keynote and TEDx speaker uniquely qualify me to support my clients to show up, speak compellingly, lead irresistibly and grow themselves and their businesses/careers exponentially. Always learning, I am certified in life, leadership and community coaching, as well as being a certified yogini of many years.

Of course, we must all overcome some challenges in our lives and businesses. I went through such a dark time as a walked away from my career in the performing arts. My entire identity was wrapped up in what I did and not who I was. In healing is where so much of our learning happens. My biggest challenge has been allowing and receiving all that is meant for me so that I may continue to serve generously and positively impact more lives. Love, joy, freedom and abundance are a birthright. We are all born worthy and capable. Stepping into that frees you to create the life you desire.

I want everyone to embrace their uniqueness and share their gifts with the world their way. My core gift is helping others to demonstrate love in action. I give it by helping you align with your truth, create clarity and express yourself more freely. My practice is based in integrity, love, and deep appreciation.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our perfect day in Miami would begin with a meditation and sunrise on South Pointe Beach. Once settled in we would do a bit of yoga and journaling. Having worked up an appetite we would head to one of Miami’s fabulous juiceries like Love Life Cafe.

Next stop, the Perez Museum for art, lunch and relaxing swings with a water view. As per my Latinx culture, we would take a nice long walk visiting shops along the way to our comfy accommodations at 1 Hotel South Beach for some quiet time to read, reflection, and rest. Don’t you agree siestas (naps) should be tradition here, too. Tired people are grumpy people. We all would do well to focus more on pleasure and rest.

Finally, we would enjoy a healthy, beautifully served Italian dinner at Perricone’s Marketplace & Cafe. Attend a live music , theatre or sporting event. And, dance the night away to live music or one of the top DJ’s. I can’t say we would keep this pace up for a week. One of my favorite places to get away from it all are the parks and beaches of Key Biscayne. A bike ride across the bridge and picnic is a beautiful way to enjoy the sun and surf.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many loved ones, peers and coaches/mentors that have supported my personal and professional expansion. I am grateful to them all.

This particular shoutout goes out to Mindset and Business Coach, Fabienne Fredrickson and the community she created, Boldheart. This coach and community helped me with the mindset, tools and resources I needed to grow my business. I will always be grateful for the loving support I received.
