We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlene Goldman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marlene, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
In recent years I’ve made many changes that I wish I’d made much earlier in my life, from trying to get eight hours of sleep a night to having a specific time at night when I regularly turn off my devices. There is no trade-off between living a well-rounded life and the ability to do good work. I find my performance actually improves when I commit to not only working hard, but also unplugging, recharging, and renewing myself.

What should our readers know about your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was rooted in my own personal experiences of working in a transient city that lacked orderliness, professionalism, and reliability. My goal was to bring back the sophisticated human experience missing from today’s artificial and impersonal world. Being responsive, consistent, and pairing boutique concierge service with large-firm resources are the backbone of which I have built my business on.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being Latina, one of the things I personally love about living in Miami is we have the largest Hispanic community in the country. Miami is a melting pot of cultures, with influences from Latin America, the Caribbean, and beyond. It is a great place to experience diverse foods, music, and traditions. Territorially we may be in the States, but the true spirit of latin culture can be found here.

For me personally, you can’t visit Miami without spending a day strolling Calle Ocho. As a child my fondest memories were from the wake up call my grandmother’s rooster gave me and the aroma of my grandfather’s morning “cafecito” brewing. I grew up listening to latin music, dancing salsa and merengue, eating “pastelitos”, and watching my family members play dominoes and smoke cigars in their finest guayaberas. Short of traveling back home, there is no better recreation of these memories than in Calle Ocho. This must see neighborhood is an integral slice of the sights, sounds, and flavors Miami is famous for!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shoutout is dedicated to all the wonderful people I have crossed paths with. Their unwavering support, kindness, and trust has illuminated and enriched my journey and my life. I am so grateful for the genuine connections we’ve forged.
