We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Yasol and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, what inspires you?
I must say that I am truly inspired by the challenge of creating something beautiful and purposeful out of nothing. And to be able to not just be a part but as a creator of a community and to build incredible opportunities for other people that share the same values and dreams. It’s an incredible feeling and accomplishment.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am an immigrant from the Philippines, I ran away from an abusive relationship and came to South Fl in late 2016, It was just me, my filipino dog and hopes and dreams to sell luxury and commercial properties in Miami. I started not knowing anyone, even not knowing the city and not having enough money to support myself. It was a real challenge but waking up everyday knowing that I am free and I can create whatever I want, failure is not an option. I did everything I can to meet new people, join communities, promote myself, I even joined an international beauty pageant and win it to have a platform where I can promote causes that I cared about and also my business. I worked many hours and sleepless nights in the first 4 years of building my re career, I constantly educated myself, network & train mentally, emotionally, financially. from 2019, I was always a top producing agent in my firm and won many awards, in 2021 during Covid I had a commercial re project that we needed to lease out, we were worried about the RE market. and that’s when my clients Moderno Development Group told me, “you’re asian you should open a Nail Salon” I could have been offended but instead I took it as an opportunity to open a new business, since I myself have a hard time finding the right Nail salon that offers amazing customer service and work. I started building a new nail salon concept that no one offered in that neighborhood. fast forward, 1.5 years later. We opened our first Fort Lauderdale location and its really the most fabulous, CHIC nail salon in Fort Lauderdale, as we continue to grow fast and are being known as the best in services, staff and venue. Last September 2022, we just opened our Miami location and we are very excited to keep growing, as we offer new services and host and collaborate with other brands, What we’ve created is more than a nail salon. It’s a community, a safe place for people to get pampered, get beautified and really enjoy themselves during every service, and be invited in our special events.

The best lessons I learned are: Be patient, theres no overnight success, If you keep waiting for the perfect timing to start on your dreams, it will never come. just do it and start, every progress will lead you closer to your goals. Be open in learning and always learn from your mistakes. and lastly, You can’t do it all, people need people who share the same values, dreams to create a desired outcome faster and better.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love living in Miami and I love sharing my favorite spots from restaurants, beaches, shops, spas, from low-key to fancy! I love working out so I make sure I take them to Anatomy (since they offer guest passes) for a killer workout and enjoy the steam and saunas. For a healthier meal, we go to Pura Vida at the design district and walk around the shops and accidentally buy something at Chanel, Oops. I also like to share info about neighborhoods and different condos etc since I am in the RE business. On a nice sunny day, we definitely need to go to the beach or a boat trip. I like going to South Pointe Beach, its less crowded and you can rent umbrellas and theres many amazing restaurants to grab a bite, then at Sunset we go and sit outside Smith and Wollensky’s enjoy some champagne & their amazing coconut cake as we watch the Sunset and cruise ships passed by, For Dinner I always order the RibEye over medium. For the night out, We will dress our best and join the fun and dance the night away at Faena living room where they have a live band every night, If you feel like dancing more after 2am, I will take you down the basement of faena where Saxony nightclub is, for a more sexy house/dance music and dance till our feet hurts. The ff day, for sure you are hungover, your feet hurts, its the best time to spend the day at the Spa, Before I build the Chic Beauty Bar, I would go to lapis Spa in Fontainebleau hotel or The Four Seasons. but your friend owns the Most Chic Spa in Miami so you get some comp/discounts on our massages, pedicures, facials and viola you are a new person once again!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my real estate clients/friends who believed in me and gave me opportunities to prove my self and to create success with them. Especially Moderno Development Group. My family for support even though they are across the globe. My best friends Sheila & Ian for never judging me, and just giving me love & support. My passed Father who taught me to dream big and enjoy life and The Chic Beauty Bar team for their patience, expertise and passion to serve our clients above and beyond, making sure all clients that comes to our salon feels special and beautiful.
