Meet Mat Woods | Event Producer & Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mat Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mat, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
At the beginning of my career as an event producer, I gave the job everything I had, leaving little time for extra passion projects and family. As I continued to learn and grow in the industry, I was able to prioritize my work vs my personal life. It has come to the point where I have more time for my family and the ability to run a small business as well.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been producing large-scale events in a hospitality environment for the past 10 years. Having the ability to adapt and overcome on the fly is something that I have learned to master during my tenure. I pride myself on being a leader who leads from the front and assists my colleagues in achieving their career goals. It was a lot of hard work to get to my position but it has been an incredible journey. I am constantly learning and humble myself, as I am surrounded by such talented individuals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot in the City, has to be Wynwood. Too many places to name but I love all the creative energy down there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my mom who helped mold me into the hard-working compassionate leader I am today. Without her constant motivation and coaching, I wouldn’t be as accomplished as I am today. She is still my mentor and I am so fortunate to be able to speak with her daily about life, business, and share success stories.

I would also like to shout out the Relax Records crew. With their support, I am able to continue with my creative journey as a music producer and be part of such a diverse music scene. Operating Relax Records with Carlos has been such a joy and it keeps me going every day.
