We had the good fortune of connecting with Matteo Freyrie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matteo, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Since i moved to Melbourne my main goal was to be able to perform live music in front of a real audience of nightclubs and events. The step of going from playing hours of music for myself to getting out there in the real Dj World was crucial and that was what pushed me to go out there, create connections with promoters, event organisers and other djs in the industry.
The Focus on the customers experience is surely behind my success, when i dig for new tunes to play to an audience i not only focus on what i like, but i try to picture in my head what would i need to play to the crowd engaged and to create a fun atmosphere! I think is the key behind me and Eat The Beat’s success. We focus on making our follower’s nights memorable and fun and that is the main catalyst to make people come back, and also share the good experience they had with their friends to make our night become an iconic place that people are happy to attend weekly from now over 7 years!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As someone who is responsible for the soundtrack of the nights of many people of all age, it is always a challenge to put together something that can be constantly successful while not becoming boring or repetitive. Digging for new tunes every single day is part of my life, is something that i like to do in the evening when everyone is quiet and when i can be more creative. Looking forward to the weekend with a Usb packed of new gems is what i look for and it is what gives me confidence that every time i will rock the dance floor!
Also i remember playing alone in my room for countless times since i was young and that has remained my main hobby since then, with the difference than now i have to meet people’s expectations. Being constantly on it every day without never get bored of it is what made it possible for me to be where i’m at now. It’s not easy, it takes a lot of constancy and focus, but the hard work done through the week always pays off during the live gigs!
Me and our brand do music and events for the people, we want you to come and have the best time of your life and we try to make sure every single detail is perfect in the customers eyes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If i was in Melbourne for a week i would definitely take some time to explore the city centre and the most iconic suburbs which are usually easy to reach by public transport. Melbourne is multicultural and is possible to eat different food in different areas and always walk away full and satisfied! I would also definitely recommend taking some time to travel outside the city and visit some natural beauties such as the 12 apostles, an iconic rock formation where the wild land meets the ocean. As well as mornington peninsula and some other natural beauties which is worth seeing while here!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A big Shoutout goes to Matteo Belcore, with his hard gained experience in event management he made it possible for us as a group to always take the best decisions together and that was a game changer while emerging between competitors who did not have such a valuable knowledge! Our resident DJs group is also to be thanked, able to use competition as a stimulant to do better and not get frustrated when seeing others getting ahead is the key to create a group that advances constantly and together and keeps being motivated to get the best of their talent out there!
