We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Miramontes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I make and create digital hardcore which is a branching of harsher-sounding dance tracks similar to the 90s eras of drum and bass and even some modern examples of breakcore. While I’ve only been doing music for around 6 months at this point, I have already released two separate records and have played several shows. Booking for tours and more shows is coming soon for 2024 and this year I am already working on another project to throw against the walls.

A big example of learning as you go and using influences from all around stems from my music. Films like The Zone Of Interest in particular are fascinating to tell a story without directly putting the audience into the viewing seat. Letting their imagination of sound and play on the beauty or ugliness of an environment is tied strongly into my sound.

It’s been a huge learning experience, especially doing live shows and shedding my skin of doing concert photography to instead of stepping onto the stage. I wouldn’t trade it back and it felt like a natural progression to me. I was always looking to progress myself even if that meant in different mediums,

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Shout out to Park Ave CDs, its a great record store to kill time and find some cover art inspiration. Division Orlando was another place I liked to spend my money when I could be in town. Great little vintage shop.
Then lasly I have to give a shout to Lawless Subs for some great food when kicking it around Orlando.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Some of the inspirations that came about stemmed from early hardcore music and records like the Melvins, the basics of The Rolling Stones, and some newer generations of noise bands like The Body or Full of Hell.
