Meet Mayte Calzacorta | Executive Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mayte Calzacorta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mayte, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has played a leading role in both my life and my career. I genuinely believe that without risk, there’s no real reward. Some of the biggest and most meaningful things I’ve accomplished have happened the moment I decided to take a leap and I’m not just talking about financial, creative or emotional risks, even the decision to step into the unknown — that’s where the magic tends to happen.
In the entertainment industry, risk is print in its DNA, you’re constantly dealing with variables that are out of your control: timing, talent, budgets, public response, nothing is ever 100% certain. As an immigrant and a woman running a production company in an industry that’s unpredictable by nature, I’ve had to take risks constantly, trusting my instincts, saying yes when things weren’t guaranteed, and betting on ideas that didn’t yet exist on paper. In entertainment, there are so many moving pieces you can’t control, but I’ve learned to stay grounded in the vision and keep moving forward even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.
It’s not always easy, but I’ve come to see risk as an essential part of growth and necessary for anyone building something meaningful.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
I’ve gotten to where I am by working really hard, staying true to my values, and making sure there’s alignment between what I say and what I deliver. At the end of the day, I run a service-based company. And while I always aim for the highest creative and production quality, what I can truly control is the experience our clients have while working with us. That’s what I focus on. If there’s something that sets me apart, I’d say it’s authenticity, consistency, and understanding that in this industry, ego can’t lead. I show up to serve a purpose, to help bring a vision to life, and to make sure the project always comes before any individual.
Easy? I dont think there’s such a thing. I’ve been doing this for the last 15 years. I had my first production company with a partner when I was just 23 years old, and after 10 years of a very successful partnership, I decided it was time to expand and build my second company, which is where I’m focusing all my energy now. This industry is tough, it’s male-dominated, competitive, and unpredictable. I’m a woman, and I’m also an immigrant. And while those things may have seemed like disadvantages at one point, I’ve learned to turn them into my greatest allies.
Being a woman gives me a certain sensitivity, attention to detail, and organization that I’ve come to see as my superpowers. I don’t try to be like anyone else, I lead from who I am, and that’s what’s made a difference.
If there’s one big lesson I’ve learned along the way, it’s this:
Stay true to yourself. Do things the right way. Don’t worry about what others are doing just focus on doing great work with good intentions. Success is the result of consistency, care, and hard work. If you’re doing things with heart and integrity, it will show, people will notice and they will want to work for you and with you.
What I want the world to know about me and my story?
That nothing is impossible, but you can’t do it alone. Thinking you can is pure ego. Surround yourself with people who motivate you, who share your values, who challenge you, uplift you and off course people that can have fun with in the process.
And most importantly: don’t define success only by the outcome. Enjoying the process, building with passion, working with people you love and respect. That’s success. That’s where the magic is. If you love what you do and you do it with heart, you’re already successful. Everything else is a bonus.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first stop would definitely be the beach. I think it’s one of the most special parts of the city. The second stop will be Kozone for a great Muay Thai or boxing workout, the perfect way to drain all the stress they’re carrying
Miami is a place where restaurants open and close constantly (hehe!), but if I had to plan something right now, here’s what I’d go for:
Sunny’s Miami for a great dinner and good vibes.
Happy hour at Viceversa — good for drinks, delicious pizza and appetizers
La Natural for amazing pizza in a super cozy spot.
Breakfast at Surry Hills or Caracas Bakery — both are favorites of mine and never disappoint.
At night, I’d go for something relaxed but fun. Zey Zey, Lagniappe, or any place with good music and a nice cocktails where you can just hang out and enjoy the energy of the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, I wouldn’t be where I am without the incredible people around me.
First of all, I want to give a huge shoutout to my team. I’ve been working with many of them for years, and I’m also incredibly grateful for all the people who join us on a project-by-project basis. Every shoot, every campaign, every story we bring to life only happens because of them. Without teamwork, none of this would be possible — there would be no story to tell.
Of course, my husband. He’s been my biggest supporter since day one, he’s the one who constantly motivates me and helps me push forward, always reminding me to strive, to be the best version of myself and to have fun in the process, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without him by my side. And lastly, there’s someone who has been really special in my career over the past few years — Rebeca León, who has been an amazing inspiration and mentor in my life. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside her for the past five years, and she’s truly an example of a strong female leader in the industry.
